Reflections from our ShePeaks expedition, Kyrgyzstan, July 2026.

Oooh, the joys of sleeping in tents, sharing meals outdoors, washing in rivers and being surrounded by animals. We certainly met plenty of four-legged friends, baby donkeys (aaaaw!), foals, curious cows, so many horses, we even briefly adopted a puppy. 🐶

Every meal we were given was a surprise. We ate plov, dumplings, samsas and shashlik, sampled sweet red Kyrgyz wine and sour mares milk balls, met women with incredible gold smiles and men wearing traditional tall, felt hats.

We hiked over a breathtaking 2,950m mountain pass, with 360° views, waded through foliage taller than our heads before crossing a bridge made of ice... in the middle of summer!

Then came the boat ride through the crystal-clear waters of Sary-Chelek lake beneath the snow-capped Tian Shan peaks, a night in a yurt camp, wild swimming, horse riding, wandering bustling bazaars, singing with the locals before ending it all with the hottest sauna I think any of us had ever had.

Some adventures stay with you a life time... this one was certainly epic. 🏔️🏔️🏔️

What an adventure. Crystal-clear lakes, high mountain passes, wild camping, yurts, horses, and a lot of laughter. Thanks to a brilliant team of women who made this an unforgettable trip.

Here's to a beautiful country with some of the kindest, warmest people you'll ever meet. ❤️

The High Atlas the homeland of the Amazigh people, whose mountain villages have stood here for centuries. Built from earth, stone and timber, these homes are shaped by the landscape itself, designed to stay cool in summer, warm in winter, and built for family life.

It's a reminder that some of the world's most remarkable architecture wasn't created by architects. It was shaped by generations of people who understood their environment.

I've arrived in Kyrgyzstan, the Swiss of the ’Stans! 🇰🇬 ⛰️

Day one.
I came a couple of days early to recover from the journey before we all head off grid into the bio nature reserve.

Apparently, Osh was a major stop along the Silk Road and is one of the oldest cities in Central Asia. It feels like a fascinating blend of Russian influence, Central Asia and the Islamic world, I think this blend is one of the things thats makes the Stans so unique.

Osh is definitely a cool fusion of old and new, it also has amazing food and amazing people.
