From the people of Cambodia to The people of Timor Leste !

First and foremost, congratulations for the official membership and welcome to ASEAN!

Timor Leste started to officially applied for ASEAN Membership since 2011 and it took another 14 years to become an official member. Writing from the heart as A Cambodian people, and a person who was graduated from International Relations field, I truely understand this is a big achievement for Timor Leste and her people. No matter how the development speed Timor Leste is for now, I believe being together as one would give a greater opportunity to get support and learn from each other, and of course forming a stronger regional peace and alliances.

I remember it as not that fast that Cambodia was fully admitted to become ASEAN member state. From 1993 until 1998, Cambodia joint ASEAN as the observant state until 1999 that we were fully granted the official membership. But after that, with the continuous and non-stop effort of the government and the people themself with the support of other ASEAN member states through various regional and bilateral framework, Cambodia is striving noticeably from a war-torn country to where we are today. I believe Timor Leste could be also achieve the same and as a Cambodian we are truely happy to see Timor Leste more development. We are truly know how it is feels like to be in a country that is labeled “underdeveloped” and but is having an ambition build and improve the country to go further and greater.

Cambodian and Timor Leste seems to be differently in culture and socio-economic aspect but out struggles might not be far different. I am personally glad that, while still
Improving ourselves, deal with our own issues, we could offer our hands to help what we could. I have done some research about the country and yes Timor Leste is such another beautiful country that I’ve been eying on to visit for quite awhile. And because of the difference we have, I would really hope to visit Timor Leste someday, to see, to feel, to learn and to connect!

Once again, Congrats Timor Leste! Warmly welcome 🙏🏻🫶🏻🇰🇭🇹🇱

ចម្លាក់មួយនៅអង្គរវត្តពិតជាប្លែក និង គួរឲ្យចាប់អារម្មណ៍ខ្លាំងណាស់ ដែលត្រូវបានឆ្លាក់ឡើង ៤ សតវត្សក្រោយ ពេលប្រាសាទអង្គរវត្តត្រូវបានកសាងរួច (ហើយត្រូវបានគេបោះបង់ចោលទៅហើយ)។ នៅក្នុងឆ្នាំ ១៥៤៦ ទោះបីជារាជធានីត្រូវបានផ្លាស់ប្តូរចេញពីអង្គរតាំងពីឆ្នាំ ១៤៣១ ក៏ដោយ ក៏ព្រះបាទ អង្គចន្ទ បានយាងត្រឡប់មកវិញ ហើយបានបញ្ជាឲ្យបញ្ចប់ការឆ្លាក់ជញ្ជាំងទទេចំនួន ២ នៅថែវខាងកើតនៃជាន់ក្រោម! អ្វីដែលគួរឲ្យចាប់អារម្មណ៍បំផុតអំពីចម្លាក់ពិសេសនេះ គឺស្ថិតនៅក្នុងសាច់រឿង "ចម្បាំងរវាងអសុរា និងព្រះគ្រឹស្នា (អវតារនៃព្រះវិស្ណុ)" ដែលមានរូបអ្នកចម្បាំងម្នាក់កំពុងជិះ សត្វក្តាន់ឈ្មោល ដែលខ្លួនប្រាណរបស់វាត្រូវបានគ្របដណ្ដប់ដោយផ្កា (ខ្ញុំដឹងថាជាក្តាន់ឈ្មោល ព្រោះខ្ញុំមើលលម្អិតឃើញ... 🤭)។ អាចនិយាយបាមថា នៅក្នុងសង្រ្គាមដែលទាក់ទងនឹងទេវកថា របស់ព្រហ្មញ្ញសាសន វាមិនមែនជារឿងកម្រ ដែលឃើញអ្នកចម្បាំងជិះក្តាន់ទៅច្បាំង! អាចនេះជាការបញ្ចូលបែបសិល្បៈតែប៉ុណ្ណោះ! តើអ្នកធ្លាប់ចាប់អារម្មណ៍រឿងនេះពីមុនទេ នៅពេលអ្នកទៅទស្សនាអង្គរវត្តនៅកម្ពុជា?

A very interesting and unique sculpture at Angkor Wat, which was sculpted 4 century later After Angkor Wat has been built (and has already been abandoned). During year 1546, despite the fact that the capital has been moved out from Angkor since 1431, King Ang Chan returned and ordered to complete the 2 blank wall at the eastern lower gallery ! What’s interesting about this particular piece in the episode of “War between Asura and Lord Krishna (An Avatar of Vishnu)”, there Depicted a warrior ridding the male deer that its body was fully covered with flower (why I know it’s a male deer, look carefully to the detail 🤭). It’s not really common to see the warrior going to the battle riding deer ! Have you notice this before when you were visiting Angkor Wat in Cambodia ?

ពញ្ញាក់ការចាប់អារម្មណ៍ : ស្ថានសួគ៌ និង ស្ថានរកនៅអង្គរ

ខ្ញុំហ៊ាននិយាយថា មិនមែនគ្រប់គ្នាដែលបានទៅប្រាសាទអង្គរវត្ត សុទ្ធសឹងតែបានចំនាយពេល ឬ មានពេលដើរមើលចម្លាក់គ្រប់ទិសនៃរោងទងរបស់ប្រាសាទឲបានសព្វគ្រប់នោះទេ! បើនិយាយពីចម្លាក់យើងប្រាកដជាដឹងថា រោងទងទិសនិមួយៗមានឆ្លាក់រឿងផ្សេងៗគ្នាដូចជារាមកេរ្ត៍ មហាភារត ចម្លាក់អំពីមហាក្សត្រជាដើម ប៉ុន្តែចម្លាក់អំពីស្ថានសួគ៌ និងស្ថាននរកប្រវែង ៦៦ម៉ែត្រនៅថែវខាងត្បូងប្រាសាទនេះមិនសូវជាមានការនិយាយច្រើននោះទេ!

សាច់រឿង និង ចម្លាក់ បើមើលឲបានដិតដល់គឺពិតជាព្រឺរោម ! ទោះជាចម្លាក់ឆ្លុះបង្ហាញអំពីព្រហ្មញ្ញសាសនា ប៉ុន្តែ concept គឺមិនខុសពីអ្វីដែលយើងដឹងអំពី ស្ថានទាំង ៣ នេះក្នុងព្រះពុទ្ធសាសនាសម័យទំនើបនោះទេ ! តែអ្វីដែលគួរអោយជក់អារម្មណ៍ គឺការទស្សនានូវភាពលម្អិតរបស់ចម្លាក់ដែល បង្ហាញពីទិដ្ឋភាពនៃ ស្ថានទាំង ៣ កាលពីសម័យនោះ ! តួអង្គ សកម្មភាពនានា ពេលដែលកាន់តែសម្លឹងមើលដោយយកចិត្តទុកដាក់ខ្លាំង ចម្លាក់ទាំងអស់នោះហាក់ដូចជាកំពុងមានចលនា នៅក្នុងចក្ខុទស្សន៍របស់យើង!

ការអធិប្បាយខ្លីៗ នៅក្នុងរូប highlight មួយចំនួនដែលគួរអោយចាប់អារម្មណ៍នៅថែវនោះ !

បើទាំងអស់គ្នាមិនធ្លាប់បានទៅទស្សនាទេ ពេលទៅអង្គរវត្តលើកក្រោយអាចចំណាយពេលបន្តិច ដើម្បីទស្សនានិងស្វែងយល់បន្ថែម! របស់យើង យើងត្រូវតែដឹង! កុំអោយចោរតែងតែស្រែកថាជារបស់វា ហើយជាក់ស្តែងយើងក៏ដឹងស្ទើរអំពីរបស់ខ្លួនឯង !

It’s a Rainy afternoon but at 5:30 the Sun is setting from the west and rainbow arching the east sky! The view was magical it last less then 30second before the dark consume this golden afterglow sky 🫶🏻

មិនមែនជាអង្គរវត្តទេ នេះជាប្រាសាទបន្ទាយសំរ៉ែ! តែរចនាបទដូចអង្គរវត្ត កសាងអំឡុងពេលពេលប្រហែលគ្នាដោយមហាក្សត្រតែមួយ ! គ្រប់គ្នាប្រាកដជាធ្លាប់បានលឺ តែមិនគ្រប់គ្នាតែដែលបានទៅ ហើយកាន់តែតិចទៀតសម្រាប់អ្នកដែលបានដឹងពីប្រវត្តរបស់ប្រាសាទ! ទោះជាសម័យអ៊ិនធើណេតពិតមែន តែប្រវត្តិនៃប្រាសាទមួយចំនួនគឺពិតជានៅតែលំបាកក្នុងកាេស្រាវជ្រាវបន្ថែមអនឡាញ ហើយប្រាសាទដ៏ស្រស់ស្អាត ប្រណិតមួយនេះដែលស្ថិតនៅដាច់ពីប្រាសាទល្បីៗមួយចំនួនទៀត កាន់តែគួរអោយចាប់អារម្មណ៍!

- ពេលដើរត្រឹមគោបុរទីមួយ មានអារម្មណ៍ថាមិនមានអ្វី វ៉ោវខ្លាំងទេដោយសារសំណង់គោបុរធ្វើពីថ្មបាយក្រៀម តែដើរចូលដល់ប្រាង្គកណ្តាលពេលណា មានអារម្មណ៍ថា “តើនេះជាប្រាង្គបាកាននៃប្រាសាទអង្គរវត្តមែនទេ?” ស្ថាបត្យកម្ម គឺស្រដៀងណាស់ ខុសគ្នាត្រង់សិល្បៈ និង ចម្លាក់ផ្សេងៗ!
- ប្រណិតភាពនៃចម្លាក់តាមជញ្ជាំងនៃប្រាសាទនេះ គឺមិនចាញ់ប្រាសាទផ្សេងៗទេ ! ហើយអ្វីដែលខ្ញុំចូលចិត្ត គឺ ការរំលេចនូវក្បាច់ក្បូរផ្សេងៗ នៅផ្នែកមួយចំនួននៅលើផ្ទៃថ្មលាតគ្នាចំលាក់ ! វាធ្វើអោយចំលាក់ក្បាច់ក្បូរកាន់តែត្រដែត (ជាពិសេសខ្សែជ្រី ស៊ុមទ្វារបង្អួច ជាដើម)
- មឈូសបុរាណ? មិនច្បាស់ថាមឈូស ឬ ជាស្តូបអ្វីអោយប្រាកដទេ តែវានៅចំប្រាង្គនៃប្រាសាទធំកណ្តាល ! ច្បាស់ជាមានអត្ថន័យពិសេសអ្វីមួយហើយ!

- ប្រាសាទនេះមិនសូវមានអ្នកទេសចរណ៍ទៅច្រើនកកកុញទេ តែ everything is beautiful ! ចឹងសម្រាប់អ្នកចង់ដើរប្រាសាទដែលស្ងប់ស្ងាត់ តែស្អាតនេះជាជម្រើសមួយ ក្រោយពីទៅញ៉ាបាយនៅព្រះដាក (ព្រោះជិតព្រះដាក)

BAYON - The legacy of The mighty Khmer Empire 🇰🇭

Built by Cambodian Mightiest King Jayavarman VII , Bayon temple is still standing strong after hundreds of years to represent his legacy but the Khmer Empire’s spiritual and political power during its peak in the late 12th to early 13th century.

• Legacy of Compassion and Buddhism: The Bayon was built as a Buddhist temple, symbolizing the king’s compassion for his people. The calm, smiling stone faces are believed to represent Avalokiteshvara or the king himself embodying that divine compassion.

• Legacy of Khmer Art and Architecture : The temple is known for its unique face towers, bas-reliefs showing daily life and battles, and complex design, marking a shift from earlier Hindu-style temples to a more human-centered Buddhist vision.

Meet the centuries old Rabbit!

We have seen a lot of mythical animal carving on the ancient temples wall across Cambodia. Most of which depict as the character in the tradition folktales such as , Naga, serpent, Garuda,… etc, some other common animal such as elephant, cow, monkey,.. and even dinosaur, but RABBIT? To be honest I have seen this before or at least until I saw this one at Ba Phuon Temple.

I have visited this temple several times but didn’t have much chance to enjoy the story carve on the stone wall. And I was so fascinated to meet this ancient rabbit. More than this there are also several more art piece on the wall that seems quite unique and different from what I’ve seen before ( such as the second picture, it seems like a flying head of someone. I am not sure this is the original sculpture or some part was eroded through time and nature). Beside the unique architecture, the arts of this mid 11th century temple is also quite impressive and unique until it own their style as “ Baphuon Arts style”. I believe most of the tourist have at least pass by and take photos of the long beautiful stone bridge, less have climbed up, and even lesser have spend time to see all the art piece on the wall! And if you’re the last type, you’re need to spend more time next time there seeing by your own eyes, and appreciate the uniqueness of how arts evolve in the past !

Besides the architecture and arts that I have talk above, this temple is so serene and beautiful with nature surrounded it ! The temple structure itself, is like the ancient skyscraper, it is stand so tall even higher than those hundred years old giant tree. But when standing the ground the trees is so enormous and tall that make us so tiny. These area are home to Temple monkey. Despite the fact that some minority of them are nuaghty and mischievous (of snatching food and some belonging- if we’re not cautious), it is quite interesting to spend time seeing their way of life that some part are similar to us and some are not. And for the rainy season, visiting temple gave us a very great experience.
