Currently the authorities are dealing with issues related to the border conflict and have decided not to hold the Angkor Empire Marathon that was planned for this Sunday, 3 August. A new date will be announced at a later time.
Having said that if you are planning to travel to Siem Reap in the next few weeks it is completely safe, temples are open as usual and the Cambodian people will warmly welcome you.

Travel Asia a la carte hopes that the current conflict at the Cambodia/Thailand borders ends swiftly.
The conflict is in a very small, remote area where few travellers visit on either side of the border. The only exception being Preah Vihear temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which suffered some minor damage yesterday from shells.
We do not have any guests travelling in the border area currently, or in the near future. Forward bookings for later in the year due to visit Preah Vihear temple have already been contacted. We shall continue to monitor the situation and adjust programmes if required.
Please note whilst land borders remain closed between Cambodia and Thailand, other overland/river borders to Laos and Vietnam are open as normal. Indeed, flights are also operating as normal between Bangkok and Siem Reap/Phnom Penh.
