🎉Happy Khmer New Year 2026🎠

Moha Sangkrant or Choul Chnam Thmey is a traditional celebration of the solar new year in Cambodia. Welcome the new year; the year of the horse. It marks the end of the harvesting season when farmers enjoy the fruits of their labor before the rainy season begins.

Nowadays, for this reason, Khmer people celebrate the Khmer New Year every year for three meaningful days. During this time, they take part in traditional games and activities that bring joy, strengthen connections, and foster a sense of unity. Above all, the celebration is about togetherness, friendship, and community spirit.

Day 1: Moha Sangkrant 🎉🎠
Moha Sangkrant is the first day of the New Year. It marks the end of the old year and the start of a new one. People wear traditional clothing and visit temples. They light candles and incense and pray to thank the Buddha. They bow three times. For good luck, people wash their face in the morning, their chest at noon, and their feet at night before sleeping. 🧼✨

Day 2: Veareak Vanabat 🤝
This is the second day of the New Year. People help others by giving food, money, or support to the poor and those in need. Families also go to temples to pray and honor their ancestors. 🙏🏡

Day 3: Veareak Laeung Sak 💧
This is the third day of the New Year. People gently wash Buddha statues and also pour perfumed water on their parents and grandparents. This shows respect and is believed to wash away bad luck. It also brings good luck, happiness, and a long life. Elders give blessings and advice to the younger people. 🌸👵👴

Thinking of Visiting Cambodia Right Now? Here’s Where to Go 🇰🇭✨

We understand that recent news about the Cambodia–Thailand border may raise questions for travelers. If you’re planning a trip, here’s some clarity and peace of mind from us here in Cambodia.

✨ The good news: Cambodia is open, safe, and welcoming. Life continues as normal in most parts of the country, especially in major destinations far from the border areas.

📍 Great places to visit right now:

• Siem Reap – Home of Angkor Wat, beautiful temples, cultural shows, local markets, cafés, and peaceful countryside. Everything is operating as usual.
• Phnom Penh – The vibrant capital with history, riverside walks, food scenes, and museums. Calm and lively as ever.
• Coastal areas (such as Kep, Kampot) – Perfect for beach time, relaxation, and nature lovers.
• Other inland destinations away from the Cambodia–Thailand border are also unaffected and safe to explore ( such as Kirirom National Park, Stung Treng, Kampong Cham, Mondulkiri, and Ratanakiri).

🚫 Border areas between Cambodia and Thailand are best avoided for now—but they are far from the main tourist routes and do not affect popular travel destinations.

Cambodia continues to welcome visitors with warm smiles, rich culture, and unforgettable experiences. If you’ve been dreaming of temples, food, history, beaches, and genuine local connections—this is still a great time to come.

If you need help planning a safe and meaningful itinerary, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to help you explore Cambodia with confidence 💛
