The History of Angkor Thom ( The mountain of victory)

Angkor Thom is one of the old city in Angkorean time, was built in square within 3km each side, the total area is 9 kilometer square by Jayavaraman 7 at the late of 12 century.
The city, there are five entrances, at the east side has 2 gates and the other side has 1 gate each.
The big statutes holding a Naka of the each side of the course way, one side are god and other side are demon, representing story in Hindu, The Churning of the Milk Sea.
The 4 faces of the gate is the face of Buddhisatva Lokiti Svara, of Mahayana Buddhism.
The gate is 23 meter high, the wall is 8m high, the moate surrounding the city is 200m width. It was built for the city defend from the enemy.

Bayon is the centre temple of the city.

- Naka is the giant snake with multi head.
- Buddhisatva is the one who under going to become a Buddha.
