The VILLAGE EXPERIENCE TOUR is half or full day (depending on the travellers preferences) and can include visiting schools and health centres and meeting with Village and Commune Leaders to discuss community strengths and needs, seeing some of the work of One Family At A Time such as built houses, toilets, wells and observing the delivery of Rice Scholarships, seeing the work and progress of Sew Fare, OFAAT's community-based Sewing School, meeting families and much more. Enjoy a meander through the village, amongst smiling adults and laughing children, observing daily routines of cooking, household and farming chores, wander past rice fields and learn about the farming process - and also the wonderful people.

This tour is unique as all families and leaders are all consulted prior to each tour thereby ensuring informed consent is obtained. This is a safe and respectful way to have an authentic village experience and genuinely engage with community leaders and families whilst prioritising the community's privacy, human rights, needs and goals.

Curtains Up does not engage in damaging 'voluntourism'.

Tours to iconic sights in and around Siem Reap and Phnom Phen are able to be specifically tailored to the travellers interests also.

Day or overnight trips to Battambang and other areas of interest are also available.

Our tours will NEVER put children at risk. We work with registered charities in ensuring that all volunteer activities are carefully planned and that we ensure the safety and wellbeing of communities are our FIRST priority.
Tours which include visits to orphanages or impose 'well meaning' tourists on families and communities will never be part of our tours.

IT WAS one of the most demeaning experiences of my life. I was one of a bunch of well-fed tourists gawking at a Mexican peon slaving under the blazing sun making mud bricks for a pittance.
