To get a real sense of immersion, you must have the curiosity and willingness to try new foods when you travel. I found the most compelling way to try new foods in Cambodia was to visit the city markets or local bazaars, not the chain stores. This market in Siem Reap is huge and has a vast array of local delicacies. The locals will try to convince you that “you won’t like that”. Cambodian cuisine is not a blend of Thai and Vietnamese, it definitely has its own flavour. 🇰🇭

The famous Glockenspiel at Marienplatz dates back to 1908. 43 bells and 32 life-size figures dance re-enactments of 16th century stories. One story on top and one story on the bottom. Ironically the story on the bottom tells of a 1517 plague in Munich. This lasts between 12 and 15 minutes. A small golden rooster at the top of the Glockenspiel chirps quietly three times, marking the end of the show.

Croatia is in my top three favorite countries to visit. Dubrovnik, on the Adriatic Sea, is also home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On the weekends there are mini craft markets featuring artists who come from the mountains once a week to sell their handmade wares. I bought some beautiful tatted linens from an elderly woman who has been tatting since she was a young girl. 🇭🇷

The five-level library has a total space of 33,700 square metres. It features floor-to-ceiling, terraced bookshelves able to hold 1.2 million books!
