🚨 Are official Korean Tour Guide exams being replaced by a short training course?

Korean Tour Guides are diplomatic storytellers and safety leads. They must pass rigorous exams covering history, culture, laws and tourism resources to represent Korea accurately and protect tourists. This strict system was built to stop unauthorized guides from distorting history and damaging the nation’s image.

However, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has proposed a temporary rule change: for minority languages (French, Spanish, Italian, German, Russian, Arabic), candidates who complete just 200 hours of training would be exempt from the official guide exam.

🩺 Would you trust a doctor who only completed 200 hours of training?

We cannot trust unverified guides with Korea's history, image, and tourist safety in case of emergency.
