Catba island is well-known as a jumping point to the famous Halong Bay. But the island itself has so much more to offer! Hop on a scooter and check out the scenic national park, caves, and bamboo bridge. Zip around the island’s many beaches and hidden viewpoints. With a private hotel room at just $7/night I found myself extending my stay night after night until 2 days turned into 5.

I was lucky enough to capture these local women relaxing and catching up. Another tourist spotted me taking it and immediately ran over to try to grab the same shot – too late! Sometimes it’s all about timing.

As a digital nomad I have the flexibility to travel and make virtually any space my ‘office.’ Teaching English online means working from cafes, hotel rooms, or even a hostel bunk! My students usually have no idea I’m in a different country but it’s fun to turn the camera to show them my newest surroundings. While teaching from a hostel dorm isn’t always possible, I was lucky to have roommates from China and Taiwan, who were more than happy to listen in on English classes.

Hoi An may just be the most photogenic city in all of Vietnam!

Went off on a solo day wandering the old town streets at my own pace. While stopped at a temple, I met a group of Vietnamese college students and struck up conversation. One of them actually gave me their hat!

Traveling means so much more when you can step out of your comfort zone and interact with those from other cultures. These are truly the best memories.

Foodie Friday from Seoul! Spend an evening sharing food with friends, before popping into a noraebang (Korean-style karaoke room) for some laughs.

When in Korea, try the haemul pajeon (seafood pancake) accompanied by makgeolli (fizzy rice wine). The best part was drinking makgeolli the traditional way - out of what resemble small dog bowls. It's an experience not to be missed!

Found my bliss in a South Korean cafe with all my favorite things - tea, art, and cats!

The perfect way to spend an afternoon in Seoul is to visit Naksan Park with the old city fortress wall. Next, take a stroll over to nearby Ihwa Village, also known as the 'mural village,' to enjoy some Insta-worthy street art.

I wouldn't have found this adorable cafe, Ihwa Junshim, if not for my local friends. The walls here are covered with hundreds of unique cat paintings. Visitors get a square tile to paint when they buy a drink. The one condition - you must paint a cat!

Grinning through the intense winter chill in Seoul!

Visiting Bukchon Hanok Village was a highlight of my time in South Korea. Since these buildings are near the president's house, they've been preserved and will be for many years to come. This neighborhood is a must-see for those interested in viewing a traditional side of the city!

Solo tripping in Gamcheon Culture Village, Busan, South Korea. Had to ask strangers for the occasional photo but got to explore this vibrant, art-filled neighborhood freely and at my own pace.
