Great to see Mr. Thumbi from PSJ representing the Lion's Club in this initiative.

The Ministry of Health, Environment and Sustainability (MHES) is pleased to announce a sponsorship of CI$15,000 in support of Lions Club of Tropical Gardens’ efforts to raise awareness of breast cancer and diabetes.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed internationally each October, highlighting the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women and one of the leading non-communicable diseases (NCDs) burdens globally.

Highlighting the importance of national data in shaping health policy, the Minister for Health, Environment and Sustainability, Honourable Katherine Ebanks-Wilks, said: “The findings of the 2023 STEPS National Health Survey underscore the serious risks our country faces from non-communicable diseases such as cancer and diabetes. Increasing awareness through initiatives like those led by the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens is crucial in helping residents in the Cayman Islands recognise risks early. This collaboration not only represents a vital step toward reducing the long-term burden of disease in our islands but also exemplifies the power of partnership in public health. We are proud to support the Lions in their ongoing efforts and are committed to further initiatives that promote early detection and prevention of advanced diseases in the future.”

🎉 CINAA Celebrates Long Service Milestones 🎉

On May 14, 2025, the Cayman Islands National Attractions Authority (CINAA) proudly honoured team members who have dedicated 10 to 35 years to preserving and promoting our national treasures – including the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park and Pedro St. James.

From protecting our heritage to enriching the visitor experience, these individuals have helped shape the heart of Cayman’s cultural and tourism identity.

🎖 Honourees included:
🔹 10 Years: Amanda Bush, Candace Ransome-Grant, Standford Crosbie, Albert Christian, Wilson Dixon (11)
🔹 15+ Years: Nancy Whittaker (16), Patrick Thompson (18), Stacy Hurlston (19)
🔹 20+ Years: Vincent Haughton, John Lawrus (24)
🔹 25+ Years: Hal Miller (25), Earl Lewis (30), Trevor Leslie (35)

Hon. Gary Rutty, MP – Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Trade Development delivered heartfelt remarks, applauding the honourees' commitment and impact.

Also in attendance were Hon. Nickolas DaCosta, MP, Ms. Heather Bodden, MP, and CINAA board members, showing strong support for the dedicated team behind Cayman’s national attractions.

CINAA extends sincere congratulations and thanks to all honourees for their remarkable service and legacy.

🌎✨ This Earth Day, employees from .james and proudly joined forces with the Cayman Islands National Attractions Authority (CINAA) to clean up Barefoot Beach in East End!

A big thank you to the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce for organizing this wonderful initiative. We’re proud to do our part in keeping our environment clean and beautiful.
