Duties and responsibilities..
• Conduct daily site safety inspections recording unsafe work practices and taking photographic evidence.
• Weekly inspection reports to document site inspection findings and coordinate remedial action with client representative or sub-contractors. Ensures compliance by all Contractors with Local Cayman Islands Construction Regulations or any other regulations outlined by the client.
• Manage client project/company orientations process by conducting scheduled orientations, updating the orientation register, and coordinating with all contractors before they start work.
• Reviews Contractors job hazard analysis or method statements and ensures contractors employees have been trained for any specialized work they are undertaking.
• Maintaining data required by the client and submits to Elevar Safety Manager for the preparation of the Monthly HSE Report.
• Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
• Assists with managing the client’s toolbox talks program by collecting documentation and ensuring full compliance and making recommendations for topics. From time-to-time attendance will be required at toolbox talks to deliver brief presentation or to address urgent site safety matters.
Documents and assists to investigate any incidents (near miss, injury, damage to company/project property), safety violations or unsafe working conditions. Preparation of incident reports as required by the client’s health and safety programme.
• BS degree in Occupational Safety or engineering field OR an equivalent combination of training and related experience required.
• Minimum 7 years of work experience in the field of Construction Health and Safety at a Safety Officer level is a must
• First Aid/CPR/AED certified a requirement
• Thorough working knowledge of OSHA Regulations 29 CFR Construction AND The Labour (Occupational Safety and Health) (Construction Industry) Regulations, 2008 are both requirements as this is vital for these projects.
• Knowledge and understanding of safety programs in fall protection, fire protection, hazardous communications, personal protective equipment, respiratory protection, and scaffolding
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with project team, customers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and employees at all levels of the organization
• Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, time management, multi-tasking, and conflict resolution skills
• Excellent computer skills and knowledge in Microsoft Office Programs such as Word and Excel and cloud-based document management platforms
• Proficient level oral and written communication in the English Language
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Possess a valid Driver’s License, good driving history
• Must be able to pass a strict background check, previous employment reference(s) required confirming experience in area of construction health and safety, confirming satisfactory performance and consistent attendance record.
