“Powder” - Pow (Pow-Pow): Light, dry, fluffy snow referred to normally as powder. You can eat this all day long and never get full.

“Nomads” - being a nomad, means enjoying freedom and independence. The nomadic life gives new experience continuously and involves learning on a full-time basis. Nomads exploit opportunities carrying out experiments, that opens up their minds. The nomadic life style can be that of fun and games, but it involves giving up certainties and not getting too attached to a specific place and the things around. The “Powder Nomads” project is about mountains, freeriding, the ancient culture of nomads, the atmosphere of wilderness and authenticity, about spirit of exploration and discovery, about the souls of skiers and snowboarders, who challenge and strive to learn absolute freedom in riding on snowy slopes. We offer to experience authentic freeride adventures in the raddest places of Kazakhstan. You are welcome to choose different types of activities, such as:

- lift-assisted one-day programs
- backcountry and touring multi-day tours
- ski-mountaineering expeditions
- tent base camps
- heli-skiing/heli-boarding

Our trekking season continued with another wonderful group from the Netherlands, as part of our series of mountain adventures organized together with our Dutch partners NOMADventure | groepsreizen voor de échte avonturier & local company Dostar Trips Kazakhstan

This time, our guide Alexander sasha_bugece777 led the team along one of his favorite routes - a place he knows almost by heart. Every summer, he guides three, four, sometimes even five trekking groups through these mountains. And when it comes to knowing the trails, the terrain and all their little surprises, experience makes all the difference.

For this adventure, we made a few adjustments to the usual itinerary, allowing for a smoother, more gradual elevation gain. Most of our guests came from a country where life happens at sea level or even below it! 😄 So giving everyone a little more time to adapt to the altitude turned out to be a great decision.

Finding the right balance, adjusting the pace, supporting each other and making sure everyone can enjoy the journey, not just reach the destination.

And together, we made it! 🙌

Even the weather was on our side this time, mostly dry days, no heavy rain and no freezing temperatures. A little gift from the mountains that made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

A huge thank you to our wonderful Dutch guests for their trust, positive spirit and all the moments we shared along the way. And to Alexander for his care, experience and dedication throughout the trek.

Every group is different and every adventure has its own story, and that’s exactly why we love what we do.

Heading out for another adventure in our home mountains near Almaty.

This time we had a group of friends from the UK, who came straight from Kyrgyzstan after doing a horseback mountain trip. So, time to swap the horses for hiking boots.

Five days and four nights in the mountains ahead of us. We couldn’t have asked for better weather - no rain, perfect temperatures and great conditions pretty much the whole way. After the first part of the route, it was also clear that everyone was in really good shape, so we could keep a good pace and cover quite a lot of ground.

We didn’t see much wildlife, but one day we came across a group of mountain goats, which was a pretty cool encounter. And one of the highlights of the trip was getting up above 4,000 metres and reaching the summit. Definitely one of those days you remember.

Good people, good vibes, big mountains and great weather. Pretty hard to ask for more.🏔️⛺️💫

New trails. New horizons. New adventures. 🐎🏔️

In August, we spent five days in horseback expedition across Assy Plateau and the upper Turgen Valley with our wonderful guests Ryan and Bryan from the USA and our guide Alexander sasha_bugece777

But this wasn’t just another adventure. It was a test run of a brand-new Powder Nomads route, and we’re pretty excited about the possibilities it has opened up!

Five days of riding through remote mountain valleys, camping in the wild, sharing stories and laughter, and enjoying the simple rhythm of life far away from civilization.

With some riding experience and plenty of adventurous spirit, the guys quickly settled into the journey. Even the weather was on our side, allowing us to make the most of every day.

On day three, we gave the horses a well-deserved break and headed on foot into the upper reaches of a remote mountain gorge. It was a long hike, but the breathtaking scenery made every step worthwhile.

And here’s what makes this new route especially exciting: we can now reach pristine glacial lakes of almost fairytale beauty as part of our horseback adventures. 💎

This opens up a whole new world of possibilities for longer journeys, more adventurous expeditions and discovering some of the most remote and spectacular corners of the Tien Shan.

For us, exploring new routes isn’t just about expanding our collection of tours. It’s about following our curiosity, going beyond familiar trails and sharing the incredible beauty of wild Kazakhstan with people who feel the same spirit of adventure.

Some places have a special way of making you slow down and simply enjoy being alive. 🐎🏔️

Our horseback adventure across Assy Plateau and Don Zhailau with Aurora, Rasmus and our guide Rakhman Рахман Байболатов was all about embracing the simple beauty of nomadic life.

Endless highland pastures, winding trails, scattered yurts, distant glaciers and the wonderful freedom of having nowhere to rush.

The weather couldn’t have been better: sunny, dry and pleasantly cool during the day, with crisp nights already carrying the first whispers of autumn. 🍂

No phone signal and no social media, no distractions. Just horses, mountains, good company and a few beautiful days of living completely in the moment.

It’s easy to understand why this route became one of our favorite horseback adventures of the summer. 🧡
