🌿 About Thongsamay Plantation
Thongsamay Plantation was founded by Mr. Thongsamay Inthilath, a man whose life has long been intertwined with people, land, and nature in southern Laos.
Born on 20 November 1977 in Vernkhao Village, Khong District among the serene islands of Si Phan Don (Four Thousand Islands) he grew up in an environment shaped by rivers, forests, and rural life. At the age of six, his father moved the family to Km 48 Village in Paksong District to establish a coffee plantation, planting not only coffee trees but also the roots of Thongsamay’s lifelong love for agriculture.
After his father passed away, his mother returned the family to their hometown. Later, Thongsamay earned a government scholarship to study at the Forestry Technical College, where his appreciation for the natural world deepened.
His career path led him into tourism: from hotel receptionist to resort manager, from tour guide to eventually becoming the Director of S L Travel where he accumulated over 15 years of experience.
In 2002, he married Mrs. Chandavone, and together they built a warm and loving family with three sons.
Never stopping his pursuit of knowledge, Thongsamay later completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at Champasak University and went on to work as a government auditor. In 2022, he was awarded a Master’s Scholarship in Auditing at Nanjing Audit University in China.
During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, he began developing Thongsamay Plantation at Km 29 in Paksong District a place where he could finally combine his two greatest passions: tourism and agriculture. One of his most meaningful accomplishments is the replanting of ancient tea trees first cultivated in 1940, preserving an important part of local agricultural history.
Today, the plantation thrives with coffee, tea, avocados, durian, pineapples, bananas, mangoes, jackfruit, and many other tropical fruits. Surrounded by mountains and blessed with the cool air of the Bolaven Plateau.
