Lebanese Tour Guides Syndicate See Lebanon through the eyes of Licensed Tourist Guides. Lebanon is a country that knew its touristical development in the fifties.

Tourists visited in large numbers the country, and were taken care of by qualified guides, introducing them history, geography, culture and traditions of Lebanon, In 1965 the guides decided to regroup themselves within a Syndicate to represent them in the government. During the crisis from 1975 till 1991, the syndicate was paralyzed, its revival happened on the 24th of July 1995, the syndicate committee is fully recognized by the ministry of tourism and ministry of labor, thus being able to take part in important decisions related to the rights and duties of a hundred Lebanese guides
Our aims and objectives are quite simple:
• To promote professional development for tour guides,
• To provide opportunities for continuing education for tour guides,
• To encourage professional integrity and ethical conduct in our dealings with each other and with the public,
• To provide a forum discussion of issues of concern guides.
• To keep members abreast of any current information relevant to the profession through educational meetings and programs,regular membership meetings and newsletter.
• To work with the appropriate government and private tourism related organizations to resolve issues of mutual concern and to create a visitor friendly destination.
• To represent the intrests of the tourist guide profession in general and the Lebanese tourist guides in particular, in matters involving the local, national and international community

Media channels can proactively implement the following strategies to prevent the promotion of illegal guides and actively stop the spread of their operations: Verification and Gatekeeping Before AiringTraditional media (TV and Radio) must strictly vet individuals before featuring them on travel shows, morning segments, or news reports.

Mandatory License Checks: Journalists should require guests to provide their official syndicate card or government tourism license number before booking them for an interview.

Consulting Professional Guilds: Producers should cross-reference names with databases managed by official entities like the local Tour Guides Syndicate or Ministry of Tourism.

Banning Informal Titles: Media outlets should refuse to frame unlicensed operators with euphemisms like "travel buddy," "local expert," or "freelance coordinator" when they are actually selling illegal commercial tours.

Public Awareness and "Naming and Shaming"Instead of inadvertently promoting illegal guides.

Educational Broadcasting: TV and radio segments can inform the public about the dangers of hiring unlicensed guides.

A hiking or mountain guide generally does not have the legal right to provide historical or cultural interpretation inside official archaeological sites, museums.
unless they are officially licensed by the ministry of tourism. and must instead collaborate with a licensed national or local guide.
When a hiking route passes through or ends at an archaeological site, or through walking historical tours in towns, cities. standard practice and local laws require handing over the tour to a licensed local or national guide.

Tour guiding is a licensed profession.

Bloggers, Instagrammers, influencers, and local hosts are not licensed tour guides and should not act as guides for tourists or locals. Their role is to showcase and promote the beauty, culture, and diversity of Lebanon.
When visitors or locals contact them to book tours around the country, they should refer the guiding to a licensed tour guide who is legally qualified to provide professional guiding services.
