Kataklysmos "The festival of the Flood" is a celebration deeply rooted in Cypriot culture and Greek Orthodox tradition.
Kataklysmos, takes place 50 days after Orthodox Easter, coinciding with Pentecost. The festival is inspired by the biblical story of Noah’s Ark as well as ancient Greek mythology and local folklore.
Beyond the religious significance, Kataklysmos is also a major cultural event in Cyprus, celebrated with Water based games and sea rituals symbolizing purification, Traditional Cypriot dancing and singing, Seafood and fish festivals and traditional "tsiatista" poetry contests.
Festivals are taking place in Larnaca, Ayia Napa, Limassol, Paphos and Protaras. While Larnaca remains the most iconic and largest.
Visitors can enjoy the celebrations this weekend including Monday 1st of June, 2026.
