Culinary professionals from across Saint Lucia, including current and former members of the Saint Lucia National Culinary Team, joined family and friends in paying their final respects to Chef Refer Leonce at his funeral service on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

The service was held at the Londonderry Seventh-day Adventist Church in Choiseul.

Born on December 26, 1985, Leonce was a dedicated father, culinary professional, and mentor whose passion for the culinary arts left a lasting impact on many within the industry.

He proudly represented Saint Lucia at Taste of the Caribbean in 2014 and 2015, earning a Silver Medal in the Seafood Competition and a Silver Medal in the Senior Chef Competition, respectively.

Beyond competition, he tirelessly served as a mentor under the SLHTA’s Chefs in Schools programme, visiting schools island-wide to share his knowledge, skills, and passion for the culinary arts with young people.

Chef Leonce’s contribution to Saint Lucia’s culinary sector will be remembered by the many lives he touched throughout his career.
