Sharing the Value of Mangrove Ecosystems with Visitors at Madampa Lake 🌊
We were pleased to host a group of tourists at the Madampa Lake through the Nagenahiru Environmental Learning Center (NELC).
During the visit, we shared insights into the ecological importance of mangrove ecosystems — including their role in coastal protection, carbon sequestration, fish breeding habitats, and biodiversity conservation. We also highlighted our community-based conservation model, where local families actively participate in mangrove restoration and sustainable wetland management.
Through responsible tourism, visitors not only experience the beauty of the wetland but also directly support long-term conservation and local livelihoods.
This is how tourism can become a tool for environmental stewardship and community empowerment.

Exploring Mangroves & Traditional Lake Life – Madampa Lake

We shared the ecological value of the mangrove ecosystem and the traditional livelihoods connected to Madampa Lake with our visiting guests.

Through this experience, tourists gained deeper insight into the importance of wetland conservation, community-based practices, and the cultural heritage of the lake communities.
