Love, it seems, knows exactly where to go..

Tripadvisor has released its Travelers’ Choice™ Best of the Best 2026 – Honeymoon Destinations, drawing from millions of traveller reviews from around the world.

Ranked 5th in the world, Galle has earned its place not through marketing — but through the lived experiences of couples who chose it to begin their journey together.

The Top 10 Honeymoon Destinations for 2026:

Bali, Indonesia 2. Mauritius 3. Maldives 4. St. Lucia 5. Galle, Sri Lanka 6. Hue, Vietnam 7. Napa Valley, USA 8. Positano, Italy 9. Watamu, Kenya 10. Antigua.

From sunset walks along centuries-old ramparts, to intimate boutique stays, ocean views, heritage architecture, and a pace that allows couples to simply be — Galle resonates in a way that feels timeless.

This recognition comes from independent global travel reporting based on Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice awards, not local opinion or promotion. It reflects what couples themselves have shared — again and again — in their reviews.

How Tripadvisor determines the rankings

Quality and quantity of traveller reviews. Reviews submitted between 1 Oct 2024 – 30 Sept 2025. Honeymoon-specific experiences, accommodation, activities, and overall satisfaction

Some places shout romance. Others whisper it softly — and stay with you forever.

The Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) was officially classified as one of 8 leopard subspecies in the 1990s (after an extensive genetic study which whittled down the initial 27 leopard subspecies).

Here are some Key Facts -

* The Sri Lankan Leopard is only one of two ‘island leopards’ (the other is the Javan Leopard)
* With the extinction of lions and tigers, the leopard became the top terrestrial carnivore in Sri Lanka
* Some believe that Sri Lankan Leopards are larger, due to lack of competition and ample prey. The largest leopard officially recorded from Sri Lanka is 77 Kg (1929). The largest official leopard is an African Leopard that weighed 96 Kg.
* The current population is estimated to be between 750 to 1000. According to other sources, less than 800 mature individuals remain.
* Compared to India, there are only few cases of ‘man-eaters’, including the notorious ‘Man-eater of Punanai’ that killed 12 people in 1924.
* Leopards can be seen at Yala, Wilpattu, Kumana and Horton Plains National Park. While Yala and Kumana have high leopard densities, the smallest leopard population is at Horton Plains.
