Nestled inside the lush Gartmore Estate in Maskeliya, this spectacular waterfall is unique because it drops directly into the serene Maskeliya Reservoir.
✨ Why It’s Special:
The Twin Beauty: It is often fed by two streams that join together, creating a massive, cascading white veil of water.
The Infinity Pool: At the top of the falls, there is a natural rock pool. Standing there gives you a jaw-dropping, panoramic view of the Maskeliya Reservoir and the sacred Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada) mountain range.
Two-in-One Adventure: The famous Moray Falls is located just a short distance away, meaning you can witness two magnificent waterfalls in one go!

🌊 Discover Bomburu Ella: Sri Lanka’s Widest Waterfall! 🇱🇰✨

If you are looking for the ultimate escape into the misty hills, Bomburu Ella (also known as Perawella Falls) should be at the top of your travel bucket list! 🎒⛰️
Nestled in the Uva Paranagama divisional secretariat of the Badulla District (near the border of Nuwara Eliya), this isn't just your ordinary waterfall. It is actually a collection of about 10 little jungle waterfalls fed by the beautiful Duwabili Ella, making it the widest waterfall in Sri Lanka! 🌊💨
🌟 Why You’ll Love It:
🌲 The Jungle Trek: To reach the fall, you get to hike about 2 to 3 km through a lush, green forest reserves and beautiful vegetable cultivation plots.
📸 Insta-Worthy Views: The sight of water cascading down giant rocks surrounded by thick green canopy is absolutely breathtaking.
🌬️ The Cool Breeze: The mist sprayed by the waterfall will cool you down instantly after the walk!
🚗 How to Get There from Colombo (The Route)
The journey takes around 5 to 6 hours depending on traffic and the route you choose. Here is the best and most scenic route:
📍 Colombo ➡️ Avissawella ➡️ Hatton ➡️ Nuwara Eliya ➡️ Welimada (Perawella)
Colombo to Nuwara Eliya: Take the Avissawella-Hatton road (A11/A7) to reach Nuwara Eliya. Enjoy the stunning tea estate views along the way! ☕🍃
Nuwara Eliya to Rendapola: From Nuwara Eliya town, take the Badulla Road and turn towards the Rendapola area.
Rendapola to Perawella Village: From Rendapola, proceed towards the Uva Paranagama / Perawella village. 🏡
The Trailhead: Once you reach the Perawella village, you will see the signboards leading to the waterfall. You can park your vehicle here and start your beautiful foot trek! 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️
💡 Tip for Drivers: The roads near the village can be narrow and winding, so drive carefully! Smaller vehicles and vans can go up to the parking area easily.
📝 Traveler's Tips for a Perfect Trip:
👟 Wear Good Shoes: The trail can get muddy and slippery, especially during or after a rain.
🌧️ Check the Weather: It's best to visit during the dry season or light rain. Heavy monsoons can make the water levels dangerously high.
🚫 Stay Safe: The currents can be incredibly strong at the base. It is not recommended to swim directly under the main fall.
🍏 Food & Water: There are small local vendors near the starting point selling snacks and herbal drinks, but it's best to carry your own water.
🚮 Keep it Clean: Bomburu Ella is a natural treasure. Please bring back plastic bottles or wrappers you take with you. Leave only footprints! 🌍💚
