This is what it feels like to get the timing juuuuuust right. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One of our absolute must-visits during our trip to Sri Lanka was the historic Nine Arch Bridge in the highlands of Ella. We made our way here at the crack of dawn, hoping to catch a glimpse of the old Sri Lankan trains. Having heard about their unreliability and infrequency (they go past about every two hours or so), we were setting our expectations low for seeing an actual train go past, let alone actually getting an aerial shot of it. We scaled our way down towards the tracks and expected to be waiting quite a while. However just a ten minutes later, we heard a faint rumble which I thought was my mind playing tricks on me. And then suddenly a sharp blast of a horn that bounced off the hills around us. Was the train actually on time? It turned out that it was, and everyone around us was scrambling. With and her camera positioned at the tracks, I unloaded the Mavic as quickly as I've ever done and was up in the air in seconds. Just I had positioned to an area in the sky that I scouted on the way down, the train steamed over the bridge, blowing its horn to warn people of the tracks. Meanwhile I was snapping away, stunned and hands shaking at the sheer beauty of what I was seeing on the live feed. Now this was a sight I wouldn't easily forget.
