Most posts about visiting Sri Lanka just give you one “best time” and stop there.

But it’s not that simple. The west coast and the east coast don’t even share the same weather. The famous elephant gathering only happens for a few months a year. The hill country looks tropical but gets cold at night, cold enough for a jacket. And some places that look close on the map can take half a day to reach by road.
