While scrolling at the gallery photo of my phone, I realize I haven't share our last big GT catch from our previous season.
That nice fish has been caught last May on popping during a trip with some regular japanese anglers. On that trip these guys also lost a couple of nice fish.
Right now, weather is still instable and we are focus to do some last works on Diviya our sea fishing boat before to splash her for our coming season.
We can't wait to be back at sea for good fishing action !

Video of the 2nd Blue Marlin caught by Eric just an hour after we released his first fish of the day. That fish has been estimated at 500 lb and has been Tagged & Released.

Another great trip at Bolgoda Lake with regular Japanese angler Maeda san from India.
During his fishing weekend, he caught a decent size golden barramundi, some big mangrove jacks (biggest was close to the 50 cm mark tapered at 49 cm), but also some other species like juvenile GT, Oxeye Tarpon, Lady Fish and a chevron snakehead while fishing in the lily pad.

Second Blue Marlin caught this season during a day charter with South African expat living in Sri Lanka. That day, we had a missed strike the morning and we got a solid hook up with that fish estimated at 150 lb. This Blue Marlin has been safely tag & release.

During a day charter with Russians anglers, we explored to jig deeper than usual and we have caught some new species such as this beautiful Eightbar Grouper (Hyporthodus Octofasciatus).
That day they also caught ruby snappers and other deep water fish.

First Marlin fishing report of the season.
Warren, for the 4th time, has booked a Big Game day charter with his friend Adrian. In 2019 we lost one after 30 min fight, last season (2024) in two days,we raised 6, get tight on a big fish we unfortunately loose. This year was the revenge.
We get a strike around lunch time, the fish was well hooked and after 1 hour and 45 min, a nice marlin was on the side of the boat. Unfortunately he came dead as his tail was tangled in the leader and drowned. That kind of situation can sadly happen, but the meat of this fish brought happiness to Warren and the local community.
Warren was really happy to catch his dream fish and he has already booked two Marlin fishing days for the next season.

Wow a long time I haven't posted fishing reports as I have been really busy guiding at sea all this time and to be honest I don't know where to start.

At sea, March has been good, especially offshore for Marlin fishing and I will post some nice footage soon. Popping has been a bit challenging some days, but when we had a nice current close to the coast GT's have smashed topwater lures, for the joy of our clients. Jigging on our usual spots has been also challenging but we have started to jig deeper over 150 m and we caught some nice groupers and ruby snappers. We have also done a bit of coastal trolling and we have caught sailfish, mahi mahi, king mackerel and wahoo.

At Bolgoda, some of our clients had good fishing catching some nice barramundi and mangrove jack.

In this post, I share highlights of pictures from sea fishing charters done beginning of March, which is a mix of popping, jigging and coastal trolling.

Just after the trip with the Japanese, I had another good popping trip with German anglers. It was more the quality than the quantity of Gt's. The guys mainly caught good size fish as you can see in these pictures.
