Today, we celebrate the majestic Asian elephant, one of Sri Lanka’s🇱🇰 most treasured symbols of wildlife and natural heritage. From the forests and grasslands to the national parks, elephants are an essential part of Sri Lanka’s ecosystems and play an important role in maintaining biodiversity. 🐘

Golden Coasts of Sri Lanka 🌅

There's a stretch of coastline where the sand doesn't just look golden, it glows. Where the Indian Ocean rolls in every shade of turquoise and green before breaking white against beaches that seem to stretch on forever.

This is Sri Lanka's golden coast, and no two hours here look the same.

Start in Mirissa at sunrise, when the fishing boats are just heading out and the beach still belongs to the early risers and the whale watchers hoping for a glimpse offshore. By midday, drift over to Unawatuna, where palm-fringed, calm bays make for the kind of swim you don't want to end. As the afternoon stretches on, Tangalle offers something wilder — wide open sand, fewer crowds, and a horizon that feels endless.

Head north along the coast and Bentota blends river and ocean with resort comfort and every water sport you can think of, while further east, Trincomalee and Nilaveli trade the crowds for glassy, untouched water and reefs close enough to reach by snorkel.

And somewhere between Koggala and Weligama, you'll still find the stilt fishermen, perched patiently above the surf on their wooden poles — a quiet tradition that's become one of the most photographed sights on the island.

By evening, the whole coastline turns to fire: gold fading into orange, then pink, then that deep blue that means the beach bars are lighting their lanterns and the day is finally winding down.

Sri Dalada Maligawa – The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Kandy 🇱🇰

Nestled beside the tranquil Kandy Lake, the Temple of the Tooth Relic is one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in the world — and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This magnificent temple is home to a relic believed to be the left canine tooth of Lord Buddha himself, brought to Sri Lanka in the 4th century AD hidden in the hair of a princess for its protection.

For centuries, the relic has held deep political and spiritual significance — it's said that whoever possesses it holds the right to rule the land, which is why it was once guarded by successive Sri Lankan kingdoms as a symbol of sovereignty.
