The stunning details of Sri Lanka’s temples. The Makara (Or Dragon) arch pictured here is from the Aluvihare Rock Temple provides a stunning and colourful entrance into the temples image house.

This lesser-visited temple is hugely significant in Sri Lanka’s Buddhist history as it where the Tripiṭaka (philosophical doctrines of Buddhism) was transcribed for preservation and the use of future generations.
