Dambulla Cave Temple is one of Sri Lanka’s most remarkable cultural treasures and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Carved into a vast rock outcrop, the complex is made up of five caves filled with more than 150 Buddha statues, centuries-old murals, and intricate paintings that cover over 2,000 square metres of cave walls and ceilings.

Dating back more than 2,000 years, it remains an active place of worship and offers a fascinating glimpse into Sri Lanka’s Buddhist heritage. Arrive early or late in the day to avoid the heat, take in the sweeping views across the Cultural Triangle and remember to dress respectfully when visiting.

Behind one of the most photographed facades in Galle Fort, a new chapter is about to begin.

After a renovation currently in progress, The Fort Printers⁠ is set to reopen next month. Housed within a building that has lived many lives – from a place of Buddhist learning to a bank and later a renowned printing house – it was already one of the Fort’s most character-filled stays. Now, with a thoughtful refresh, guests can look forward to experiencing this historic property once again.

We thought it was fabulous before and can’t wait to see what’s next…
