ther served in Kilinochchi (North) then as an Officer in Charge. I remember how my father took me to the Grape farms where I enjoyed plucking them and then eating them! I enjoyed the rural life and miss it even now. I will always cherish the moments I spent in those villages, the paddy fields, big tall trees, eating wild fruits, yams…
I studied in a leading catholic school in Colombo and feel privileged to have been schooled there as it gave me good lifeskills and trained me in the 21st century. After school I joined the marketing field which I decided to become a marketer. In the same year I got enrolled to CIM – UK and sat for the certificate level in six months. I worked in the Textile Industry, which was booming, for 14 years. I started with Tri Star Apparels (pvt) Ltd, as a trainee merchandiser soon after I was promoted to the position of merchandiser and reached to Merchandising/Marketing Manager. Unfortunately the textile industry declined after the twin towers attacks. Present -
In 2009 I enrolled with Sri Lanka Tourist Board completing a Diploma in Tourist Guiding. From then I’ve been working as a tourist guide escorting groups and individuals ensuring that they experience all that Sri Lanka has to offer. In order to provide a more exclusive service to my clients I became a life member at ‘Field Ornithology Group of Sri Lanka’ attached to Colombo University under Prof Sarath Kotagama obtaining birding qualifications. I have strong interests in wildlife, our culture and the beautiful Sri Lankan scenery. For those that would like exclusive access to difficult to reach areas or areas not often seen by the everyday tourist I am able to get privileged access. Police escorts can also be arranged due to my father’s standing. I am well respected and guests recommend me to their friends.

In Memory of Craig 🐘

Today, the Amboseli landscape feels quieter. Craig’s passing marks the close of a remarkable chapter, one shaped by decades of movement, memory, and quiet authority. He lived a full life, strengthening his lineage and sharing space with the communities who have long coexisted with Amboseli’s elephants. His presence was a reminder of what time, protection, and respect can allow nature to become.

At the African Wildlife Foundation, we pause to honour Craig as a symbol of what conservation makes possible when people and wildlife thrive together. His life, and his peaceful passing, reflect the power of sustained protection, community stewardship, and collective responsibility. As we remember Craig, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that Africa’s elephants continue to live long lives, shape their landscapes, and inspire generations to come.
