Sri Lankaโ€™s iconic Colombo Lotus Tower is set to introduce South Asiaโ€™s first-ever bungee jump attraction โ€” and it will be the worldโ€™s tallest bungee jump from a tower. ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ

The project, now in its planning and engineering phase, is backed by a signed agreement and extensive collaboration between structural engineers and the Lotus Towerโ€™s in-house technical team.

The launch is expected sometime next year, marking a historic milestone for both Sri Lankaโ€™s tourism sector and global thrill-seekers.

SRI LANKA ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ | Travel beyond the ordinary

27/08/2025

Sri Lanka has been voted the Most Desirable Island in the World at the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2024 in London.

Sri Lanka has risen from last yearโ€™s eighth place to take Gold in one of the Awardsโ€™ most thrilling turnarounds. Known as the โ€˜Pearl of the Indian Oceanโ€™, the nationโ€™s history comes to life through spectacular monuments such as Sigiriya Rock, the cave temples of Dambulla and the ancient ruins of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. Elsewhere, its leopard-filled national parks and the jungle-fringed beaches of Tangalle and Trincomalee show off the islandโ€™s natural side. But, more recently, itโ€™s the tea plantations and lush highlands of the centre that have caught the eye, with the fresh addition of the Pekoe Trail offering an exciting new way to explore Sri Lankaโ€™s green heart.

Teeming with elephants, leopards and more, Wasgamuwa National Park is undoubtedly a must-visit for a chance to explore Sri Lankaโ€™s fascinating wildlife. History and wildlife come together at Wasgamuwa National Park. Around 225 km from Colombo, the park is famous for its large number of Sri Lankan elephants, almost a whopping 150 in a herd!

The discovery of evidence of ancient Sri Lankan kingdoms at Wasgamuwa, lead to the conclusion that the area was also an important battleground. Wasgamuwa National Park is home to many of the wildlife that was displaced during the Mahaweli Development programme in 1984; the project aimed to generate hydroelectric power and improve irrigation systems by utilization of the nearby Mahaweli River waters.

The fauna at Wasgamuwa is a varied lot. The birdlife at Wasgamuwa is also reasonably abundant; the park has 140 species of birds, some of them endemic to the region. The fauna at the park also includes spotted deer, monitor lizards, mugger crocodiles and Sri Lankan frogmouth. Around 150 floral species have been identified here.
