Sri Lankan government has urged the public to wear face masks as a precautionary measure.

The Ministry of Health’s notification to the public on the Coronavirus influenza must be taken very seriously. Prevention method is to keep your throat moist, do not let your throat dry up. Thus do not hold your thirst because once your membrane in your throat is dried, the virus will invade into your body within 10 mins. Drink 50-80cc warm water, 30-50cc for kids, according to age. Everytime you feel your throat is dry, do not wait, keep water in hand. Do not drink plenty at one time as it doesn’t help, instead continue to keep your throat moist.

Avoid crowded places, wear a mask as needed especially when using the train or public transportation. Avoid fried or spicy food and load up with vitamin C.

The symptoms/ description are:
1.repeated high fever
2.prolonged coughing after fever
3. Children are prone
4. Adults usually feel uneasy, headache and mainly respiratory related
5: highly contagious

There are lots Chinese workers in SL and their families will be travelling with few precautionary measures .

1. Avoid using lifts at Hospitals or any congested area. If you see any one sneezing or coughing or looks very ill, simply walk away.

2. Avoid spending time at shopping Malls .

3. Keep some antiseptic gel in your car and wipe your hands after every hospital visit or public area. Best if you could wash your hands with soap and running water for at least 20 Sec. Avoid touching your nose, mouth, eyes before washing your hands.

4. Wear double face masks when visiting hospital premises.

5 . Avoid ordering stuff from eBay, Ali Express etc. We don’tknow who packs the stuff . The Virus spreads via air droplets , infected mucus etc. Your parcels could be contaminated.

6 . If you have any friends, relatives who travelled to the region China, Vietnam, Singapore, etc avoid visiting them for at least 10 days upon their return. Because if some are infected with about 10 days they will develop the clinical signs.
