A Morning in Yala
We enter with the rising sun. A Peacock greets us with his shimmering feathers. They are meant for the Peahens nearby, but we seem more interested.
The Painted Stork, not one to be ignored, steps out of the shadows showing off its long legs and bright colours.
Further along, a herd of Elephants cool off in the muddy waters, while a Croc welcomes the rays of the sun with his mouth wide open..always ready to clamp shut, if we get too close!
Closer to mid-day the shade of the trees is prime real estate. No one gets out much at this time. Not even the high-flying Crested Hawk Eagle.
We spot a young adult Leopard amongst the shade dwellers. She gives us a nonchalant look and flops down for a nap, never to be seen again. Illusive indeed!
With a smile on our faces, we head back to camp to catch a nap of our own.
