Dive Sri Lanka’s Most Complete WWII Aircraft Wreck
One of the only aircraft wrecks in Asia you can dive nearly intact—with a history that spans oceans and warzones.

At 42m lies the PB5A Catalina Y-78.
Discovered and ID’d by Dharshana Jayawardena (pictured on the wing), this WWII aircraft carried out secret missions across the Indian Ocean.

Results of our Social (media) Experiment.

You're planning a dive trip abroad.
You Google “best dive sites in [destination].”
TripAdvisor lights up. Instagram floods in.
You see the same few names over and over.

But are those the best sites or just the most reviewed?

In Sri Lanka, we compared a basic shallow yet often 'heard online' reef with a top class WWII wreck lying deep off our coastline.

The reef had 100s of reviews.
The wreck? Barely any.

Not because it was lesser. Just because it was rarely visited and had no online visibility.

No visibility= no demand to dive= no reviews. The vicious cycle continues.

At the other end, the average reef rakes up reviews that drive more dives generating more reviews creating an online champion.
