We took our Aussie guests to this wonderful hands-on organic tea experience in Ella, run by a local group of passionate farmers. 🌿
They got to experience the journey of tea from the very beginning — picking fresh tea leaves, rolling, grinding and tasting different flavours of locally made tea, all while enjoying delicious traditional Sri Lankan snacks. 🇱🇰
It’s more than just tasting tea — it’s meeting the people behind it, getting your hands involved, and experiencing a beautiful part of Sri Lanka’s everyday life. ❤️

“Sri Badhrakali Amman Temple”

We brought our Aussie guests here, and we were lucky enough to arrive right during Pooja (ceremony) time. No queues. No rushing. No trying to get the “perfect spot.” Just the sounds, colours, rituals and devotion unfolding naturally around us.💚

And then… look closely at the temple. 👀
At first glance, the sculptures and paintings can seem fierce, powerful faces, terrifying figures, battles, punishment and destruction. The temple is dedicated to Badhrakali, a fierce form of the Divine Mother.

But here’s the beautiful part😉,
in Sanatana Dharma the ancient spiritual tradition commonly known as Hinduism, the fierce imagery isn’t simply about fear or punishment. It can represent the destruction of evil, protection of devotees, the power of divine justice, and the transformation of darkness into light.
The more carefully you look, the more you notice.
Every face. Every hand. Every creature. Every colour. Every tiny detail has a story.

This is the Nagasvaram, one of the five sacred instruments of the traditional Pancha Turya ensemble and one of the loudest non-brass acoustic wind instruments in the world.
If you ever visit a Hindu temple, try to be there during Pooja time. The sound of the Nagasvaram, together with the temple drums, is an unforgettable experience and a beautiful reflection of the devotion and living traditions of Hindu worship.
