Article on the publication of art history 1
"Group of 43"
Group of 43 can be called the first modern art association that did a great service to Sri Lankan art in the twentieth century.
It can also be said to be the first group that was formed against the views of another art association in the 20th century because the art association that existed at that time was formed with the support of the British ruling class.
Among those who came forward to form this group, the initiative of the photographer Lionel Wendt was very prominent, and later it was a collection of George Kit, Ivan Peiris, Justin Deraniyagala and other scholars.
Mohun adopted a variety of methods in common art theories with the modern art ideas of Sublimationism and Fawcett Cubism, which originated in Paris in the 19th century, and with methods that were specific to Sri Lanka.
