Meemure / මීමුරේ - Remote villages

හුන්නස්ගිරියේ සිට මීමුරේ යන අතර මඟදී නකල්ස් කඳු පංතියේ ප්‍රධාන කඳු රාශියක් දැකගත හැකිය..

Meemure is a village in Sri Lanka with a population of about 400. It is located near the border between Kandy District and Matale District in the Knuckles Mountain Range.

Meemure is one of the most remote villages in Sri Lanka with the only access via a 14 km (8.7 mi) trail from the town of Loolwatte. There is no cellular service available in the village, but a CDMA telephone service is available.

There is no direct mail delivery to the village; a villager journeys each day to Thapal Junction (literally meaning Mail Junction) to exchange incoming and outgoing postal mail with a postman.

Lakegala mountain is in Meemure village. It is considered the place where King Ravana lifted the Dhadu Monara or Dhandu Monara. Residents of the village depend on several staple crops including pepper, cardamom, paddy and ginger.

Meemure village owns an exceptional natural beauty. It is rich with natural Beauty and Traditional Sri Lankan styles. The distance from Colombo capital to Meemure is about 175 km.

Bible Rock - බතලේගල - பதலேகள

Batalegala Kanda, situated in Kandy, and visible as you reach Kadugannawa Pass is shrouded in thick jungle from time immemorial.

මාවනැල්ල ආසන්නයේ පිහිටා ඇති බතලේගල එහි හැඩය හේතුවෙන් "Bible Rock" ලෙස හඳුන්වයි.

මහනුවර - කොළඹ මාර්ගයේ පහල කඩුගන්නාව ප්‍රදේශයේදී ඉතා හොදින් ඇස ගැටෙන ස්ථානයකි. මුහුදු මට්ටමේ සිට උස මීටර 1688 කි.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ස්වාභාවික සෞන්දර්ය පිළිබඳ විමසීමේ දී එහි පිහිටා ඇති ස්වාභාවික කඳුවලට හිමි වන්නේ විශේෂ ස්ථානයකි. ඊට හේතුව, ඒවා ස්වභාවධර්මයාගෙන් ලැබුණු සෞන්දර්යාත්මක දේ බැවිනි. පුංචි සීගිරිය හෙවත් බතලේගල කන්ද ද එවැන්නකි.

ලෝකයේ අටවන පුදුමය ලෙස නම් දැරූ සීගිරි පර්වතයට සමාන හැඩයක් තිබෙන නිසා බතලේගල කන්ද "පුංචි සීගිරිය" ලෙස හදුන්වනු ලැබේ. එසේ ම මෙම ස්ථානය සෞන්දර්යත්වය හා ඵෙතිහාසිකත්වය ද කැටි වු සොබාදමේ අපූරු නිර්මානයක් ලෙස අවිවාදයෙන් පැවසිය හැකි ය....

Today it is being transformed into a Buddhist place of worship. To the traveler proceeding from Metropolitan Colombo to Kandy, the magnificent spectacle of the rock stands as a colossus dwarfing the surrounding landscape.

Batalegala Kanda rising to a height of more than 1688 feet is surrounded by its satellites such as Devanagala Kanda hallowed by the visit of legendary God Alutnuwara deiyo in the north east, Kaithankadagale and Urakanda hillocks and Montane Kanda, Wakirigala Kanda and Uthuwankanda from the north. Image Nature has gifted Batalegala Kanda with the panorama of cascading water-falls, luxuriant meadows and intriguing scenery.

It is popularly referred to as the ‘Bible Rock’ by the westerners because it resembles an open book. Legendary Caves, old devalaya dedicated to god Suniyam and a drought-proof water spring in the mount seem to be god-given treasures. The access to Batalegala is from Mawanella. A right turn before the narrow Mawanella Bridge brings visitors to the rock.

Ella/ ඇල්ල/ எல்ல - Sri Lanka | Things to do

ඇල්ල යනු ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ බදුල්ල දිස්ත්‍රික්කය තුල පිහිටි කුඩා නගරයක්.

Ella is a small village in hill country of Sri Lanka which is filled with the beauty in abundance. Place is famous among tourists for trekking and for the nice weather.

These are the must dos in Ella.

1) Climb Little Adam's Peak - Plan your visit in early morning or late evening for best views.

2) Climb Ella Rock - Again same as above early mornings and late evenings are the best times.

3) Nine Arch Bridge - Built with solid rocks in 1920s. Stay there until a train passes the bridge to capture some good photos.

4) Ravana Falls - If you love water and wanna have some splash time enjoy some hours in the water fall. You can spend sometime swimming. But always make sure Safety First

5) Tea Factory and Tea Estates - Area is filled with tea. If you wanna know how tea is made then plan a visit to Halppewatte Tea factory

6) Lipton Seat - Not in Ella, You have to come to Haputhale, 30-40 min drive from Ella. But worth going. It's a famous view point with some incredible views.

7) Train tours - If you planning your journey from Nuwara Eliya to Ella, we suggest you to take the train as that will be a life time experience. You will capture some great photos.

If you still have time, you can go to Dowa Temple, and if you love camping find some time to climb the Namunukula Mountain.
Ella and have some awesome time.

Sooriya kanda / සූරියකන්ද

Sooriya kanda is a part of “Sinharaja forest” this is a very beautiful mountain. There are mamals, reptiles, birds fishe also in the forest.

ඉතා සෞම්‍ය වූ දේශගුණයක් මෙන්ම අලංකාර කදු වලින් මැදිවූ මීදුම සහිත පරිසරයකින්ද සමන්විත ප්‍රදේශයක් ලෙස සූරියකන්ද, දෙනියාය ආශ්‍රිත බුළුතොට හෙල් අතර වූ පරිසරය හැදින්විය හැකිය.

The dangerous animals like leopards and bears also live there. There are many fruits and medicinal plants in this forest. The “Deniyaya” road goes across this mountain. T.V Towers are also situated in the forest. There are springs, caves and lots of valuable herbs in this large forest.

The Buluthota pass as a winding stretch of road with ten hairpin bends that climbs through the mountains between the towns of Rakwana and Sooriyakanda,this is a very scenic drive with plenty of Photographic opportunities .

the journey through the pass and after the summit cutting fascinates a visitor as he views an endless beautiful vista of much of Southern Sri Lanka.

රක්වාන – සූරියකන්ද හරහා දෙනියාය මාර්ගය මෙම සුන්දර කදු පන්තිය මැදින් දිවයයි. රත්නපුර සිට පැමිණෙන අයකුට රක්වාන පසුකර සුන්දර වංගු 10 පාර හරහා සූරියකන්දටත්, එතැනින් දෙනියායටත් ගමන් කල හැකිය. ඇඹිලිපිටියේ සිට පැමිණෙන්නෙකුට කොලොන්න, බුළුතොට හරහා සූරියකන්ද වෙත ගමන් කල හැකිය.

සුන්දර තේ වතු වලින් හා ප්‍රපාතාකර බෑවුම් සහිත කදු වලින් සමන්විත මෙම මාර්ගය දෙපස ස්වාභාවික කුඩා දිය පහරවල් වලින් ගලායන නොයිදුල් ජලය පරිසරයට එක් කරන්නේ ඉතා මනරම් දර්ශනයකි.
මෙම මාර්ගයේ සූරියකන්ද – දෙනියාය අතර ගමන් කරන්නෙකුට ගුවන් ඡායාරූප බදු වූ පරිසර දර්ශනයන් දැකබලා ගැනීමේ භාග්‍ය හිමි වේ. ප්‍රපාතාකර බෑවුම් අතරින් වැටී ඇති ගමන් මාර්ගය දෙපස මෙවැනි දර්ශන පහුලව දැකිය හැකි වේ.

සූරියකන්ද කදු මුදුනේ පිහිටා ඇති සම්ප්‍රේෂණ කුළුණු වෙත සාමාන්‍ය ජනතාවට ප්‍රවේශ වීමට අවසර නොමැති නමුදු, එම මාර්ගය දිගේ ගමන් කල පසු දකින දර්ශනය ඉතා චමත්කාර වූවකි. වංගු අතරින් තමා පසුකර පැමිණි මාර්ගය දෙස ඉහල සිට බැලීමේදී දර්ශනය වන්නේ ඉතා අලංකාර පරිසර පද්ධතියකි

Thelgamuwa Oya is a stream that flows from the Knuckles Massif of central Sri Lanka, a series of hills so called due to their likening of the knuckes on a fist.

It is a part of the beautiful streams and waterfalls that form a network in that area. The Knuckles Range was called the Dumbara Range originally, and the surrounding area is still called Dumbara. The stream runs through Dumbara, close to a forest cabin dormitory called the Dumbara Wana Nivahana located in Ilukambura, which provides accomodation for campers visiting the forest reserve that occupies the area.

The stream is one of the most amazing freshwater streams of Sri Lanka, with clean gushing water and many natural rock pools. Some of the still pools are deep, while others are shallow making them perfect as bathing or swimming holes. The shady hollows formed as the stream flows under trees, bubbling over rocks, makes Thelgamuwa Oya a very relaxing place to visit.

The deeper pools of Thelgamuwa Oya are dangerous to swim or dive, but have many fish. They are good places to sit in the shade on a folding chair, with a fishing rod in hand and bait nearby in a bucket. The quiet chirp of birds and soft murmur of water makes for some peaceful fishing.

Thelgamuwa Oya is a good place to visit when taking a relaxing break during your holiday to Sri Lanka; if it’s taxing and stressful, jampacked with places to visit and things to do.
