Gaia, also known as Gaea is the Greek goddess of the Earth. Her imagination connected with the magic of sprawling plains and sheets of water, alternating during dry and rainy seasons, extending beyond the bungalow to the far hills. Within the private space of Gaia Lake, is a 3 bedroom bungalow and a single room villa which in total accommodates up to 8 adults and 2 children. You can have a dip in the pool or a traditional well bath - and even more fun ‘pihilla’ - water sprout - bath! You will be warmly served with Sri Lankan hospitality by our care taker. Gaia Lake is yours to spend your holiday in absolute tranquility or experience the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka, exploring Sigirya, Dambulla, Pidurangala, Anuradhapura or Polonnaruwa.

One of our most honoured animal neighbours—the buffalo—moving freely through our neighbourhood during the dry months.

It’s an absolute treat to quietly watch them go about their day: the young ones playfully running around, grazing peacefully, and the mothers milking them. There’s something wonderfully grounding about sharing our surroundings with these gentle animals and simply observing them in their natural rhythm.
