From 7 Sept 2021, provided the domestic epidemiological situation remains favourable, Canada intends to open its borders to any fully vaccinated traveller who has completed a full course of vaccination with a Government of Canada approved vaccine at least 14 days prior to entry.
Please note that non-discretionary travels to Canada (non-essential travel, including tourism) remains prohibited until September 7, regardless of the vaccination status.

What is changing?
• The Government of Canada intends to open its borders to all fully vaccinated travellers, who meet select criteria, for non-essential travel on September 7, 2021, at 12:01 a.m. EDT.
• As of August 9, 2021, at 12:01 EDT, fully vaccinated American citizens and permanent residents in the U.S. will be allowed to come to Canada for non-essential reasons.
• Fully vaccinated travellers who are permitted to come to Canada will not need to quarantine.
• All travellers to Canada will no longer be required to stay at a government-authorized hotel.
• For fully vaccinated travellers, Canada will be moving to surveillance testing at its borders. This will help Canada monitor for vaccine escape and COVID-19 variants.
• While Canada continues to trend in the right direction, the epidemiological situation and vaccination coverage is not the same around the world. The Government of Canada continues to advise Canadians to avoid non-essential travel outside of Canada.
