The third excavation of the Batadoba Lena Prehistoric Site was conducted in 2005 by Dr. Nimal Perera and his research team. During this excavation, a total of 132 stratified layers were identified within the trench, of which 125 layers containing deposited samples were systematically examined.

The research carried out to date has provided valuable prehistoric insights, including detailed soil studies, analysis of thin soil strata, pollen analysis, examination of microliths, investigation of microlithic technology, and the analysis of faunal (animal) remains
