Pigeon Island National Park / පරවි දූපත ජාතික උද්‍යානය / புறாத்தீவு தேசிய பூங்கா

Pigeon Island National Park is one of the two marine national parks of Sri Lanka. The national park is situated 1 km off the coast of Nilaveli, a coastal town in Eastern Province.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාව යනු සතර දෙසින් මුහුදින් වටවී ඇති සුන්දර වෙරල තීර වලට හිමිකම් කියන සුන්දර රටකි.නිලාවේලි මුහුදු තීරය මෙම වෙරල තීර අතරින් සුන්දරත්වය අතින් පෙරමුන ගන්නා බව කොයි කවුරුත් දන්නා කරුනකි. මෙම වෙරලේ සුන්දරත්වය හා සංචචාරක ආකර්ෂනය තවත් වැඩි කිරීමට වෙරලේ සිට නාවික සැතපුම් 1 දුරින් පිහිටි පරවි දූපත දායක වී ඇත.

අතීත රජ සමයේ මෙම දූපත පරවියන් මගින් පණිවිඩඩ හුවමාරු කරණ මධ්‍යස්ථානයක් ලෙස භාවිතා කිරීම නිසා මෙම දූපතට පරවි දූපත ලෙස නම් පටබැදී ඇති බව ජනප්‍රවාද වල කියවේ.මෙම දූපතේ අදටත් පරවියන්ගෙන් නම් අඩුවක් නැති බව දූපත දුටු කාටත් වැටහී යන කරුනකි.

Pigeon Island National Park consists of two small islands off the east coast north of Trincomalee . The island gets its name from Blue Rock Pigeon, a native endangered bird who lives within the rocks in these islands. The islands were declared a sanctuary in 1963 for the purpose of protecting these birds. In 2003 this area was upgraded to the status of a National Park and the boundaries were extended to include coral reef around them.

This Pigeon Island National Park has one of the best remaining coral reefs with high live coral cover in the country and is an ideal location for scuba diving and snorkeling.

புறாத்தீவு தேசியப் பூங்கா என்பது இலங்கையிலுள்ள இரு கடல்சார் தேசியப் பூங்காக்களில் ஒன்று. இப்பூங்கா கிழக்கு மாகாணத்திலுள்ள நிலாவெளி கடற்கரையிலிருந்து 1 கிமீ தொலைவில் உள்ளது.

இத்தீவின் பெயர் அங்கு வாழும் பாறைப் புறாவின் பெயரால் ஏற்பட்டது. இத் தேசியப் பூங்கா இலங்கையிலுள்ள சிறந்த பவளப் பாறைகள் சிலவற்றைக் கொண்டுள்ளது. புறாத்தீவு 1963இல் புகலிடமாகக் குறிக்கப்பட்டது. 2003 இல் தேசியப் பூங்காவாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. இத்தேசியப் பூங்கா இலங்கையில் 17வது தேசியப் பூங்காவாகும். பிரித்தானிய இலங்கையில் இது சுடு பயிற்சித் தளமாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டது.

Tradition of Stilt Fishing in Sri Lanka

Stilt fishing is a typical fishing technique only seen in Sri Lanka. The fishermen sit on a cross bar called a petta tied to a vertical pole planted into the coral reef. This long exposure shot shows how unstable their position is.

Meemure / මීමුරේ - Remote villages

Meemure is one of the most remote villages in Sri Lanka with the only access via a 14 km (8.7 mi) trail from the town of Loolwatte

සූරිය අරණ සිනමාපටය රූගත කල මෙහි පෞරාණික ගමක ලක්ෂණ අදටද දැකගත හැක.රාවණාගේ පුරාවෘත වලට බැඳී පවතින ලකේගල ගම්මාන පසුබිමින් යෝදයකු සේ නැඟී සිටී.

හුන්නස්ගිරියේ සිට මීමුරේ යන අතර මඟදී නකල්ස් කඳු පංතියේ ප්‍රධාන කඳු රාශියක් දැකගත හැකිය..

Meemure is a village in Sri Lanka with a population of about 400. It is located near the border between Kandy District and Matale District in the Knuckles Mountain Range.

Meemure is one of the most remote villages in Sri Lanka with the only access via a 14 km (8.7 mi) trail from the town of Loolwatte. There is no cellular service available in the village, but a CDMA telephone service is available.

There is no direct mail delivery to the village; a villager journeys each day to Thapal Junction (literally meaning Mail Junction) to exchange incoming and outgoing postal mail with a postman.

Lakegala mountain is in Meemure village. It is considered the place where King Ravana lifted the Dhadu Monara or Dhandu Monara. Residents of the village depend on several staple crops including pepper, cardamom, paddy and ginger.

Meemure village owns an exceptional natural beauty. It is rich with natural Beauty and Traditional Sri Lankan styles. The distance from Colombo capital to Meemure is about 175 km.

Kalpitiya is one of the best spots for dolphin watching in Sri Lanka. Here you can witness massive pods of dolphins, even thousands at once, in their natural habitat.

Watching the delightful dolphins swimming alongside and diving under your boat, riding waves in perfect synchronization and twirling and leaping out of the water in a joyous display, is a magnificent experience and one that will be cherished for years to come.

The seas off Kalpitiya Peninsula became famous relatively in 2005 when large pods of Spinner dolphins were spotted. These dolphins were mainly found in an area that ran north-south parallel to the Kalpitiya peninsula, in-shore off the reef, which is commonly known as the ‘Dolphin Line’. Since then, Kalpitiya has become one of the top destinations for dolphin watching in Sri Lanka.

දෙවුන්දර හා මිරිස්ස ප්‍රදේශයේ ජල ක්‍රීඩා සංගම් ඔවුන් ගේ ජල ක්‍රීඩාවන් ගැඹුරු හා නොගැඹුරු මුහුදේ ක්‍රියාත්මක කරද්දී දෙවුන්දර හා මිරිස්ස මුහුදු තීරයේ තල්මසුන් දැකීමෙන් අනතුරු ව ක්‍රමයෙන් මේ බව ප්‍රචලිත වූ බව රුහුණු විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ කථිකාචාර්ය, ටර්නි ප්‍රදීප් මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

ලෝකයේ තල්මසුන් වර්ග 80ක් පමණ ජීවත් වේ. එයින් වර්ග 26 ක් ශ්‍රී ලංකාව අවට මුහුදේ දැකිය හැකි ය. ඔවුන් අතරින් බ්ලූ වේලස්, ස්ප්‍රිම් වේලස් හා කිලර් වේල්ස් යන තල්මසුන් වර්ග 3 දෙවුන්දර හා මිරිස්ස වෙරළ තීරයේ දක්නට ලැබේ. ලෝකයේ වඳවී යන සත්ත්ව විශේෂ අතර තල්මසුන් ද ප්‍රධාන තැනක් ගනී. මොවුන්ගේ බෝවීමේ වේගය 5.8%ක් වන විට වඳවීමේ වේගය 3.7%ක් වේ.

තල්මසුන් වඩාත් ප්‍රියකරන ආහාරය කුනිස්සන්ය. තල්මසුන් වඩාත් විශාල සතෙකු නිසාම කුනිස්සන් කෑම වෙනුවට බීම කරනු ලබයි. කුනිස්සන් ගැවසෙන්නේ කෙරොල් ආශ්‍රිත ප්‍රදේශයේ ය. දෙවුන්දර මිරිස්ස අවට මුහුදු කලාපය විශාල වශයෙන් කොරල් සහිත කලාපයක් බැවින් කුනිස්සන් ආහාරයට ගැනීම සදහා තල්මසුන් මේ ප්‍රදේශයේ ගැවසෙන බව ඒ පිළිබඳ කරන ලද පර්යේෂණවල දී තහවුරුකරගෙන තිබේ.

තල්මසුන්, ගැඹුරු මුහුද් ජීවත් වන සත්ත්වයෙකි. විශේෂයෙන්ම දෙවුන්දර, මිරිස්ස අවට මුහුදු කලාපයේ මහද්වීපික පටකය ඉතා පටුය. සැතපුම් කීපයක් යන්නට මත්තෙන් එක්වරම මුහුදු විශාල ගැඹුරකින් යුක්ත වේ. මේ හේතුව නිසාත් මෙම ප්‍රදේශය තල්මසුන් ගහන වීමට බලපා තිබේ. දකුණු මුහුදු තීරයටවැටෙන ගංගාවන් ප්‍රමාණයද දිවයිනේ වෙනත් ප්‍රදේශවලට සාපේක්ෂව ගණනින් වැඩිය. මේ නිසාම ගංගාවලින් ගලා එන පෝශක ද්‍රව්‍ය ආහාරයට ගැනීමේ හැකියාවද දකුණු මුහුදු තීරයේ තල්මසුන් ගහන වීමට බලපා තිබේ.

දෙවුන්දර හා මිරිස්ස ප්‍රදේශයට පමණක්ම ආවේනික වූ තල්මසුන් රංචු කීපයක් ද වෙසෙති. ඔවුන් දකුණු මුහුදු ප්‍රදේශය හැර නොයන බවද ආචාර්ය ටර්නි ප්‍රදීප් ප්‍රකාශ කළේය. නැගෙනහිර බෙංගාල බොක්කේ සිටින තල්මසුන් රංචුද දෙවුන්දර තුඩුව හරහා අරාබි මුහුදට සංක්‍රමණය වීමද මේ ප්‍රදේශයේ තල්මසුන් බහුල වීමට බලපා තිබේ.

මුහුදේ වාරකන් කාලයට තල්මසුන් නැරඹිය නොහැකිය. වාරකන් කාලයේ දී උදේ අව්වට වඩාත් ප්‍රියකරන තල්මසුන් දිය මතුපිට විශාල වශයෙන් දැකිය හැකිය. මුහුද කලම්බනයට පත් නොකරන වර්ගයේ යාත්‍රාවක් භාවිත කිරීමෙන්, පහසුවෙන් ම මේ තල්මසුන් නැරඹිය හැකි ය. තල්මසුන්ගේ ප්‍රධාන ආහාරය වන කුනිස්සන් ගහන කාලයක්ද ඇත. මෙම කූනිස්සන් හැදෙන කාලය, තල්මසුන් විශාල වශයෙන් සංක්‍රමණය වන කාලය බවටද හඳුනාගෙන තිබේ.
