ඩී. ජේ. විමේලසුරේන්ද මහතාගේ අදහසකට අනුව මෙය නිර්මාණය කර ඇත. අංශක 360 කින් මෙම දුම්රිය ආපස්සට හැරෙනවා. ඇත්තටම සිදුවන්නේ කන්දක් වටා දුම්රිය මාර්ගය නිර්මාණය කර තිබීමයි. සුදු පාලකයින් විසින් සැතපුම් 11 කට සැලසුම් කල මග සැතපුම් 3 කට කෙටි කර වලලක හැඩය ගත් දුම්රිය මග සහ ආරුක්කු 9 යේ පාලම සැලසුම් කර තිබෙනවා. මෙම අදහස ඔහුගේ මනසට ඇවිත් තිබෙන්නේ දුම්රිය මාර්ග සංස්කරණයේදී එතුමා ලග සේවයේ යෙදී සිටි දෙමළ සේවකයෙකු හැද සිටි තලප්පාව දැකීමෙනුයි. අපේ රටේ ඉංජිනේරුවන්ගේ දස්කම් මැනවින් විදහා පාන මෙම දෙමෝදර දුම්රිය මාර්ගය විදේශිකයින්ගේ ප්‍රියතම ස්ථානයක්.

The Demodara tunnel and railway entrance is called the Demodara Loop and is of historic significance. It would be a major tourist attraction.

It is said that the idea of this loop was a sudden inspiration that occurred to the engineers who masterminded the railway line, when they observed the Kangany who was supervising the workers, undo his ‘talappa’ (head gear) and re-tie it round his head.

ඇල්ල යනු ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ඌව පළාතේ, බදුල්ල දිස්ත්රික්කය තුල පිහිටි කුඩා නගරයක් වන අතර ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාවක් මගින් පාලනය වේ. ආසන්න වශයෙන් කොළඹ සිට කිලෝමීටර 200ක් පමණ නැගෙනහිරින් පිහිටා ඇති මෙහී උන්තාංශය මුහුදු මට්ටමේ සිට මීටර 1041ක් පමණ වේ.

Ella (Sinhalese: ඇල්ල; Lit. "water fall"; Tamil: எல்ல) is a small town in the Badulla District of Uva Province, Sri Lanka governed by an Urban Council. It is approximately 200 kilometres (120 mi) east of Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 1,041 metres (3,415 ft) above the sea level. The area has a rich bio-diversity dense with numerous varieties of flora and fauna. Ella is surrounded by hills covered with cloud forests and tea plantations. The town has a cooler climate than its surroundings, due to its elevation. The Ella Gap allows views across the southern plains of Sri Lanka. Located on the Colombo-Badulla railway line, and the A16 highway (Beragala-Hali Ela) a part of the Colombo-Badulla road. Ella railway station is the 75th station on the Main Line and is located 271.03 km (168.41 mi) from Colombo. The station has one platform and all trains running on the Main Line stop at the station. The station opened in July 1918.

අද අපි කොලඹ ඉඳලා බොහොම සුලුවේලාවකින් ගිහින් රස විඳින්න පුලුවන් අපූරු තැනකට යමු.සමහරවිට මෙහෙම තැනක් තියෙනවා කියලා ඔබ තවමත් දන්නෙත් නැතිව ඇති.මේ තමයි සීතාවක තෙත් කළාපීය උද්භිද උද්‍යානය.

ප්‍රධාන දොරටුවෙන් ඇතුළුවී ඉදිරියට යනවිට අවට සිරි නැරැඹීම සඳහා ස්ථානයක්(view point) එකක් ඈතින් පෙනෙනවා.කන්ද නැගලා එතෙන්ට ගියාම පුදුමාකාර දර්ශනයක් බලාගන්න පුලුවන්. අංගසම්පූර්ණ ගිමන්හලක් ද, අවන්හලක් ද මෙහි තියෙනවා.ඒ වගේම අවශ්‍යය සනීපාරක්ෂක පහසුකම් තිබෙනවා. මෙම පරිසර කලාපය මනාල මනාලියන්ගේ ඡායාරූපගත කරන්නන් හට,විවාහ ඡායාරූප කරණයේ යෙදෙන්නන් හා විලාසිතා සඳහා ඡායාරූප ගන්නා අය ට හරිම සුපුරුදු තැනක්.

ප්‍රවේශ ශාලාවෙන් එළියට බසින විටම එහි ඇති කුඩා වැව්වල හංස බෝට්ටු සවාරියේ යෙදෙන්නත් පුලුවන්.හැබැයි ඒකට ටිකට් අරගෙන එන්න ඕන.නිදහසේ සුව විඳිමින් මෙහි සැරැසරන ඔබට, මීවන උයන, තර්ජිත ශාක එකතුව, මධ්‍යම තෘණ පිටිය, තේ වගාව රුක් උයන, මුදුන් උයන, ඖෂධ උයන, රෝස උයන ආදී ස්ථාන නැරැඹීමේ උපරිම අවකාශය තිබෙනවා. මේ උද්භිද උද්‍යානය පිහිටා තිබෙන්නේ ඉඳිකඩමූකලාන වන රක්ෂිතය ආසන්නයේ. මෙහි මුදුන් උයනට පිවිසි විට ඖෂධ උයනක් ද, ‍රෝස උයනක් ද දැකිය හැකියි.මේ සියල්ල මැද පවුල් පිටින් ගොහින් අපූරු දවසක් ගත කරලා එන්න යන්න සීතාවක තෙත් කළාපීය උද්භිද උද්‍යානයට..

(මෙහි පලවන ඡායාරූප සියල්ල 2003 අංක 36 දරන බුද්ධිමය දේපළ පනත යටතේ සංරක්ෂණය කරන ලදි.උපුටාගැනීම සපුරා තහනම්.)

සෙම්බුවත්ත විල නුවර කවුරුත් හොදට අදුරන දන්න තැනක්. මෙය පිහිටා තිබෙන්නේ ඇල්කඩුවෙහිය. කොළඹ සිට ඔබ ගමන් කරනවා නම් පළමුව නුවරටත් පසුව නුවර මාතලේ මාර්ගයෙහි ඉදිරියට ගමන් කල යුතුය. උකුවෙල හන්දියට පැමිණි පසු ඇල්කඩුව මාර්ගයට හැරවිය යුතුය. එසේ ටික දුරක් යන විට ඔබ ඇල්කඩුව නගරයට පැමිණේවි. ඉන්පසු හුනුගල පාරට හරවා කි. මී. 3 - 4 ක් යනවිට ඔබට සෙම්බුවත්ත විල හමුවේවි. සෙම්බුවත්ත විලෙහි විශේෂත්වය එය ස්වාභාවික ජල උල්පතක් වීමයි.

This beautiful lake is situated in Elkaduwa – Matale district. If you are travelling from Colombo first of all you have to reach Kandy city then take the Kandy Matale main road. Once you come to the Ukuwela junction turn right towards to the Elkaduwa road. Then you have to reach the Elkaduwa junction which is a small city. From Elkaduwa you have to take the Hunugala road. There will be a 3- 4km drive on the Hunugala road then again you have to take the turn to the right which will take you to the beautiful Sembuwaththa Lake. There is another alternate way that you can reach this place is from Kandy you have to take the Madawala road this will take you to the Wattegama town. From Wattegama you can reach Elkaduwa junction and then have to take the Hunugala road. Condition of the road from Ukuwela to Sembuaththa Lake is not too good in condition. So it’s better to drive in a jeep. Road is narrow and too many bends.

One of the main attractions of Elkaduwa is the Sembuwatta Lake, which is created from natural spring water. Sembuwatta Lake is believed to be 30 to 40 feet deep (According to locals). Along side of the Sembuwatta Lake there is a natural swimming pool, consisting of natural spring water, which has captured the hearts of many nature lovers.
