British Airways resume direct flights to CMB after 15years!
Leading European carrier British Airways started off new flight operations to Sri Lanka from 15th April 2013, after one and a half decades’ lapse since the flights were suspended in 1990’s owing to the island’s security situation prevailing at the time. The first flight Boeing 777 -BA 2043 operated by a Sri Lanka Pilot Mr. Kiran Mediwaka landed in Sri Lanka flying from Gatwick via Male at 12.45 hrs local time carrying 77 passengers on board including the CEO of British Air, VIP officials and a group of high profile media crew from UK.

Sri Lanka, Best Country to Visit in South Asia: Travel Asia Online

Travel Asia Online in an exclusive report has categorized Sri Lanka as the best country in South Asia to visit, while Maldives took second place and Bhutan third.

The Travel Asia Online ranks eight south Asian countries, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka in terms of their population d
ensity, GDP per capita, literacy rate, life expectancy and the cleanliness. Sri Lanka was ranked as the cleanest country in the region Travel Asia Online selected the top five countries at every level, marking 1–5.

According to Travel Asia Online marks system and international statistics, Sri Lanka got 18 marks out of 20, while Maldives got 17 and Bhutan got 11. India ranked fourth in the list.
