If you are planning to go snorkelling in Sri Lanka, you might want to consider Weligama. In my opinion, it is one of the best FREE to snorkel reefs in Sri Lanka. You can literally swim to it right from the beach and it's very shallow, making it ideal for those of you who are new to snorkelling.
You can spot most of the regular fish that you would see in a shallow reef in Sri Lanka, and as well as juveniles of many species. The lagoon here also attracts quite a few Green and Olive-Riddley Turtles who come to feed on the seagrass... and yep, that is another perk of this reef. It has extensive mats of seagrass, frankly, sometimes you feel like you are swimming over a meadow! 😍
In this video, we are going to take a look at one of the strangest inhabitants of the reef - the Immaculate Pufferfish. Make sure to check out the full video if you want to get to know more about this elusive creature.
