• Villagers from the area often collect eggs 🥚🥚and bring them to be buried to the sand Hatchery in Peraliya. If there’s lot of 🌞sunshine, they hatch in about 48 days. The baby turtles🐢🐢 are then placed in tanks for about 10 days to prepare them for their release.
• Turtles are frequently injured at 🌊sea. Many get caught in fishing nets, whilst others are attacked by people attempting to catch and kill them for their meat. The few that survive are cared for by Turtle🐢 Farms such as these, and those that make a good recovery are re-released to the🌊 sea.
• These Farms encourage locals to bring in eggs 🥚🥚or turtles to them by making a payment to them as incentive. This helps to conserve turtle stocks and persuade people to stop selling and eating turtles 🐢and their eggs.

• Yala National Park is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka, bordering the Indian Ocean. The park consists of five blocks, two of which are now open to the public, and also adjoining parks. The blocks have individual names such as, Ruhuna National Park (Block 1), and Kumana National Park or 'Yala East' for the adjoining area.

• It is situated in the southeast region of the country, and lies in Southern Province and Uva Province. The park covers 979 square kilometres (378 sq mi) and is located about 300 kilometres (190 mi) from Colombo.

• Best time to visit Yala National Park

>> For the most reliable wildlife sightings, it's best to visit Yala in the dry season from February to June. With the water levels lower, it's easier to spot animals coming out to the lagoons to drink. The park normally closes each year for the month of September for maintenance.

• The park is best known for its variety of wild animals. It is important for the conservation of Sri Lankan elephants, Sri Lankan leopards and aquatic birds.

▪︎Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over five caves, which contain statues and paintings.

▪︎These paintings and statues are related to Gautama Buddha and his life. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses. The latter include Vishnu and the Ganesha. The murals cover an area of 2,100 square metres (23,000 sq ft). Depictions on the walls of the caves include the temptation by the demon Mara, and Buddha's first sermon.

Boasting about adventure sporting, Kitulagala is a town located in West of the road from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. It's a town located in amid tickly forest 🌳 hills.

It has been once a filming place for the David Lean's 1957 Oscar-winning epic "Bridge on the 🏞 River Kwai" on the banks of Kelani River. Most visitors for the adventure sporting are from Colombo.

The Kitulgala's main attraction is White water rafting 🚣‍♂️ where you can ride the tides of Kelani River. Other than that it's popular for sports like confidence jump, Stream Sliding, Waterfall 🏞 abseiling, Jungle trekking. Bird 🦜watching and cave exploration and last but not least river trips and expeditions.

《 THE LITTLE ADAM'S PEAK 》

The Little Adam`s Peak got it`s named after it`s big brother, the holy mountain Adam`s Peak, because of the similar shape. The path up the hill to Little Adam`s Peak is easy to find and is marked by signs showing the way next to the 98 Acres Resort, to the right of this white Buddha.

● The beginning of the path goes through beautiful lush green tea plantations full of tea picking ladies.

● The Little Adam`s Peak, 1141 m high, is fairly easy to climb, with a good path all the way up.

● The trip took us about 2-3 hours in total (including picture taking).

■ It is not a challenging hike and it`s quite short, but gives you a good impression of the landscape around Ella and the view is fantastic! So absolutely worth the climb! If you don`t have that much time in Ella, I highly recommend taking the hike up to Little Adam`s Peak.

Sri Lanka Coast Guards assures a safer season of whale watching at Mirissa.

With the whale watching season in Mirissa being in full swing and many local and foreign tourists gathering to the Mirissa harbor, The Sri Lanka Coast Guards had increased their vigilance in monitoring the implementation of Sea Mammals Observation, Regulation and Control Regulations.

To ensure that the Regulations are adhered to by boat operators and tourists engaged in whale watching, the members of the Rohana Coast Guard base had been observing whale and dolphin watching activities in Mirissa since last year. The coast guards also make sure that the boat operators; crew and the tourists abide the safety precautions and regulations before and during their tour of observation.

■ Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple.
■ The most important of its many Buddhist temples is Dalada Maligava (“Temple of the Tooth”), where a sacred relic, supposed to be the left upper canine of the Buddha, has been preserved since 1590. The temple was constructed under Kandyan kings during the periods 1687–1707 and 1747–82.

■ The Kandy Perahera or the Esala Perahera is one of Sri Lanka's foremost religious celebrations. It has been recorded that the Perahera was held each year since the arrival of Buddha's tooth relic to Sri Lanka. The Kandy Perahera is an elegant procession or parade that flaunts the various talents of the Kandyan people.
