🚆 Rebuilding the Kandy–Badulla Railway Line After Cyclone Ditwa 🇱🇰💙
The past days have tested us as Cyclone Ditwa caused severe damage along the world-famous Kandy–Badulla railway line—a route celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes, misty mountains, lush tea estates, and century-old engineering marvels.
But once again, Sri Lankans proved their strength. 💪❤️
From dawn until dusk, railway workers, villagers, and volunteers came together—not because they were asked to, but because it is in our blood to rise when challenges strike. The same spirit that built ancient kingdoms, crafted irrigation systems admired by the world, and raised architectural wonders like Sigiriya and Parakrama Samudra, is the spirit that now restores these tracks stone by stone.
Sri Lanka’s hospitality is not just for visitors—it is a way of life. People who had nothing spared a cup of tea, a meal, or a helping hand to those working tirelessly on the line. Smiles, encouragement, and teamwork filled every corner of the hill country.
This railway line is more than transport—it is a symbol of our identity, connecting our past with our future. And seeing everyone join forces reminds us that no storm is stronger than the heart of our people.
Soon, trains will once again glide through tunnels, across valleys, past the iconic Nine Arches Bridge—and the world will witness the resilience that rebuilt it.
