Padiyagampala Gal Messa ( Prehistoric Dolmen)

It is one of our pre historic relics attributed to Stone Age man and the only known relic of such design found in Sri Lanka. Rectangular in shape it consists of three sides of enormous slabs of solid rock and a fourth slab which is the biggest consisting of the roof. A mere glimpse of the dolman gets anyone’s attention & curiosity due to its shape and structure. There is no historic documentation found associated to this structure because it is said to belong to a period before history was ever written.

Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage and breeding ground for wild elephants which is situated northwest of the town of Kegalle, Sri Lanka. It was established in 1975 by the Department of Wildlife Conservation on a 25-acre (10 ha) coconut plantation on the Maha Oya river. The orphanage was originally founded in order to afford care and protection to the many orphaned elephants found in the jungle
