🛺 How to Avoid Overpaying for Tuk-Tuks in Sri Lanka
Tuk-tuks are one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to get around Sri Lanka.
They're everywhere, they're convenient, and travelling by tuk-tuk can be part of the Sri Lankan experience.
But if you're a first-time visitor, you might sometimes be quoted a price that feels much higher than expected.
Don't worry. You don't need to avoid tuk-tuks altogether.
You just need to know a few simple tricks.
💬 1. Agree on the Price Before You Leave
If you're taking a tuk-tuk from the street, always ask the price before getting in.
You can simply say:
"How much to go to?"
If the driver gives you a price that seems high, politely negotiate or ask another driver.
Never assume the price will be calculated fairly after you arrive.

using individual tuk-tuks can become tiring and complicated.
A private driver gives you one agreed transport arrangement for the journey and allows you to stop along the way.
