ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ දැඩි ස්වභාවික රක්ෂිත තුනක් පවතී. සත්ව සහ ශාක විශේෂයන් අවම බලපෑමක් යටතේ බෝවීම මඟින් එම විශේෂිතයන් මිහිපිටින් වඳවී යාම තුරන් කිරීම සදහා ස්වභාවික පරිසරයක් සපයන විද්‍යාත්මක පර්යේෂණ සදහා යෝග්‍ය පහසුකම් ඇති භූමි දැඩි ස්වභාවික රක්ෂිත ලෙස ප්‍රකාශිතය. දැඩි ස්වභාවික රක්ෂිත පූර්ණ ස්වභාවික පද්ධති ලෙස ආරක්ෂා කෙරේ. එබැවින් දැඩි ස්වභාවික රක්ෂිත තුළ මිනිස් ක්‍රියාකාරකම් වලට අවසර ලබා නොදේ. එනමුත් වනජීවී සංරක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ පූර්ණ අධීක්ෂණය යටතේ පර්යේෂණ ක්‍රියාකාරකම් කිරීමට හැක.
There are three strict Nature Reserves in Sri Lanka. An area of land & deemed to be dedicated to species of animals & plants to thrive on with the least disturbance for the purposes of ensuring the survival of threatened species in their natural habitat facilitating appropriate scientific research & declared as a Strict Natural Reserve. Strict Natural Reserves protected as pure natural system. Therefore human activities are not allowed in the strict Nature Reserves. But research activities could be carried out under direct supervision of DWC.
