இராவணன் வெட்டு ! Ravanan Vettu - refers to a specific site near the Koneswaram Temple in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, known for a legend involving King Ravana and his attempt to move the temple for his ailing mother. The name translates to “Ravana’s cut” in Tamil, referring to a cleft or cut in the rock believed to have been created during Ravana’s effort

According to local Tamil legends, King Ravana, a devotee of Lord Shiva and his mother, worshipped at the Koneswaram Temple, considered the “Kailayam of the South”. When Ravana’s mother fell ill and couldn’t visit the temple, he attempted to bring the temple to her by cutting the rock it was on. However, Lord Shiva intervened, causing Ravana’s sword to strike the rock, creating a cleft that is now known as Ravana Vettu.
