Kuttam Pokuna (Twin Ponds), Anuradhapura ❤️

The Kuttam Pokuna, also known as the Twin Ponds, is one of the finest examples of ancient Sinhalese hydrological engineering in Anuradhapura.

Built by the monks of the Abhayagiri Monastery, these beautifully designed bathing tanks date back to the 6th–8th century AD. The two ponds, connected by underground channels, display remarkable craftsmanship with stone carvings, symmetrical design, and an advanced water filtration system that once supplied clean water for ritual baths of monks.

Today, the Kuttam Pokuna remains a symbol of the ingenuity and sophistication of ancient Sri Lankan architecture.
