Swings have always been an inseparable part of spring. But why did people - especially the young - feel such a pull toward them?

Maybe it was the warmth in the air, the spring breeze, or simply the need to wake up every cell after the stillness of winter.

In Baltic tradition, there were three types of swings - each one a different feeling.
The hanging swing gave you flight. Get high enough and those childhood butterflies come back. The rope swing was wilder - kids would throw a rope over a branch and go. The seesaw swing was all about the other person - the higher your friend goes, the more you laugh.

But swings were never just play. They were rhythm. Back and forth, up and down - as if the body is learning the cycle of the year. From darkness to light, from stillness to motion.
