In Riga, on Kronvalda Boulevard, there is a monument that is one of the most unusual in Riga. It depicts malic acid molecules. It was created in honor of the Latvian-born chemist Paul Walden. Speaking of chemistry, the forests around Riga should also be mentioned. The phytoncides they contain reduce the amount of the stress hormone cortisol in the body, phytoncides also have an anti-inflammatory effect. Dry pine forests are considered a particularly desirable environment for improving health.
