Tbourida, also known as the ‘Powder game’, is a traditional and popular equestrian art inspired by the historical wartime attacks of the once feared and fiercely brave cavalrymen of Morocco. The colourful spectacle of Tbourida is a contest of speed, endurance, grace, discipline and manoeuvrability for Morocco’s horsemen and horses. Tbourida is practiced across all rural areas of Morocco to celebrate national and religious moussem (holidays), as part of Morocco’s national culture and past tribal identity of the country.

Tbourida : The Fantasia of Morocco ( 摩洛哥的幻想曲 ) is a series of photographs describing and realising the depth, thunder, smoke and dust, colours, energy and spectacle of the Moroccan Tbourida and its back story the crowd of characters. Shot at a number of moussem across Morocco including Moulay Abdellah Amghar, Moussem des Cerises Sefrou, Tissa and others.

The Fez Photography Workshop is rescheduling it May Workshop till Sept - The workshop, sponsored by Fujifilm, is rescheduling from its original date May 9 -16 workshop to run Sept 10 -19, 2015. The timing of the workshop covers the the Tissa Horse Festival / Fantasia and the pre Eid markets in Fez. Stay tuned for more updates.

The High Atlas mountains are home to several Berber villages where inhabitants do not have electricity, paved roads or access to doctors and make their living farming and making and selling olive oil and pottery. A friend and I went to visit the area.
